Hello, Andzelika2019, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Aladdin comparison section

edit

Hi! I saw that you posted this to the article. I've removed it since it had many issues with original research and sourcing.

  • For example, saying that one portrayal of the Genie was better than the other is something that's extremely subjective to the individual. One person may like Robin Williams better, another person may argue that Will Smith was better. There are a lot of comparisons like this in the section.
  • You used Wikipedia as a source - this is not seen as a reliable source since Wikipedia cannot source itself. The reason for this is that Wikipedia is always being edited by random users, so it will never have the needed type of editorial oversight and verification to make it a reliable source.
  • The sources didn't seem to back up the claims, such as saying that one actor or film was better than the other in some way. It's vital that the sources explicitly make these claims, as we can only summarize what has been explicitly stated in the source material - we can't make our own comparisons or conclusions.
  • Some of the things included aren't really comparisons - for example, the person who voiced Aladdin in the animated film would be unable to play a live action Aladdin for several reasons, the most obvious of which would be his age and ethnicity.

I hope that this helps explain the removal. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:15, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
