Wells Cathedral

Hi, About four years ago you suggested some radical changes to Wells Cathedral. I've just returned to look at the article & was considering doing some editing, but would appreciate your guidance.— Rod talk 13:19, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. I was wondering whether you were home from your travels yet (& had a good Xmas & New Year). I'm still looking at this article but wondered if you had any further thoughts, or opportunities to work on it before I jump in?— Rod talk 17:07, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
I've had a bit of a go at Wells Cathedral, but have left the architecture section largely alone and I was wondering whether you had the time or motivation to take another look at it?— Rod talk 09:44, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for all your edits to this over the last week or so. Are there any particular features you think we need better photos of? I'm nearby and could drop in with a camera.— Rod talk 09:31, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
Ok give me a few days and I will do my best with the camera - not sure about the helicopter or helium balloon though.— Rod talk 14:19, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
I've just done some (minor) polishing on this & think your work has really enhanced the article. I've sent a couple of messages re access for photography & waiting to hear back. In the meantime we could do a joint nomination for GA - I think it meets the criteria - what do you think? If it passes GA & we get the better pics we could always consider progressing towards FA...— Rod talk 14:43, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

A GA reviewer has made some comments at Talk:Wells Cathedral/GA1. I've dealt with some of the MOS and history queries, but would you respond to the suggestions that some of the comments may be POV in the architecture section. Also could you look at the citation in the caption for the West Front pic (currently ref 65) which I believe you added.— Rod talk 15:33, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for all your help. The cathedral administrator has said yes to the pictures you wanted (including misericords) & I'm now negotiating with one of the staff about times & dates. Easter is a busy time for them & I'm going to be away for a week + work & family get in the way but I'm hoping we can arrange something in mid April.— Rod talk 08:44, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
I spent several hours at the cathedral today & hopefully got most of the interior shots you wanted. The weather was too bad for exteriors. Also the retrochoir is extremely difficult to photograph & the Jesse Window at the east end of the choir is covered in scaffolding for restoration. Take a look at the categories on commons for Wells Cathedral & a new one for Misericords at Wells Cathedral - they are extremely difficult to shoot so I hope they are OK?

Looking for a favor

Hi, I don't believe we've ever interacted, but I'm still going to ask you for a favor.(After posting, I scrolled up and realized we have and you were helpful, so now I'm pumped)

I work at OTRS, and I'm trying to clean up the Photosubmissions queue. That's a place where non-editors who have a useful photo send it in, and we upload it for them. When someone sends in a photo for an article without a photo, the process is simple. We upload it for them and add it to the article. When someone sends in a photo, and there is no obvious article, the process is also simple, we thank them for thinking of us, but decline.

However, I'm looking at some photos of one of the oldest churches in the world, and would hate to decline them.

I see List of oldest church buildings (which is where I got your name). Most of the entries have their own articles, although I do see a couple redlinks, so perhaps the photo could be added to the list, and someone, sometime will create the article. However, I don't know where it belongs on the list.

The description is: "the old church (Syrian-Nestorian?) located here near Al-Jubail, KSA"

I see a couple of possible next steps. My hope is that you will know enough about the subject to know where the entry belongs in the list, and I will upload the images, and add one to the list. Another option is that you are interested in helping, but need more information, and I can either pass along some questions or put you in contact with the photographer. Yet another option is that you can identify some other editor who is willing to help.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:13, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

After reading at Jubail Church that it was closed to even archaeologists, I wondered if the photographs sent were at the right location. However, I found this image labeled at being at the Jubail Church, and the three columns look like they match File:Jubail Church column closeup.jpg, so I think they are correctly identified.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:57, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
