--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 20:59, 14 August 2012 (UTC)---Amanda: I found one scholarly article using the UTM Library that discusses trends and statistics about shopping malls in Toronto. Check it out: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/doi/10.1111/j.1541-0064.2001.tb01498.x/pdfReply

Amanda: I think we should change our topic to Sherway Gardens

Amanda: We could discuss the construction or reconstruction of it because the description is quite vague.

Beth: Found an article about malls and why they are constructed the way they are. Check it out: http://www.scribd.com/doc/24822840/The-World-in-a-Shopping-Mall — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beth.bos (talk • contribs) 17:51, 7 August 2012 (UTC)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amanda: Is that article scholarly? We could definitively use that.

Natasha: We could discuss the building design and bring in the idea of consumer theory used in the layout Sherway Gardens — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talk • contribs) 18:00, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Amanda: Here`s an article about the major renovations that took place in 1991: http://search.proquest.com.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/docview/436361313/abstract

Amanda: I found the history of the mall, beginning with its construction and all the reconstructions to date. http://www.sherwaygardens.ca/en/centreinfo/Pages/OurHistory.aspx

Natasha: This article talks about a shopping malls attractiveness from the shoppers perspective. http://journals1.scholarsportal.info.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/details-sfx.xqy?uri=/09590552/v35i0011/936_smaasa.xml — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talk • contribs) 18:12, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Amanda: Alright, I think we have enough research. Lets start. The original first paragraph states: Sherway Garden is a large shopping mall located in Etobicoke with over 200 stores. It is located on the south-east intersection of The Queensway and The West Mall in the west end of the city on the Mississauga border. It is owned and operated by Cadillac Fairview and features Sears, The Bay, and Holt Renfrew stores as its main anchors. - I don`t know what you guys think, but I think this is REALLY vague. How about we change it to something like this: One of the largest stores in North America, Sherway Gardens is a 850,000 square ft shopping mall located in Etobicoke.[1] The two story mall consists of 127 stores.[2]

Amanda: I`ll handle the description of the mall (how it was originally constructed).

Natasha: I'll handle the idea of what makes a mall attractive to a consumer — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talk • contribs) 18:43, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Amanda: Alright so let me get my part done and then it will be a whole lot easier for you guys to incorporate your parts.--Amanda.J.James (talk) 18:49, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Beth: I have some input from Victor Gruen who was the mall architect from the first enclosed mall in 1956...we can look at his 'mall theory' and incorporate it with regards to Sherway — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beth.bos (talk • contribs) 19:29, 7 August 2012 (UTC) --Beth.bos (talk) 19:32, 7 August 2012 (UTC)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Beth: Yes...Amanda...that is a lot better. Keep everything to the point and factual. Every sentence must be informative and developed....so (almost) every sentence should be cited because it is fact. --Beth.bos (talk) 19:34, 7 August 2012 (UTC)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amanda: Yeah that definitely sounds good. I`m sure we can squeeze that in somewhere. I kinda feel like I`m just stating the exact facts that the website has given. I`m making sure every sentence is cited though...is that okay?

Amanda: Take a look, three paragraphs DONE!

Beth: That should be okay if they are all in your words and cited correctly. The article I found is definitely scholarly...I had that confirmed. --Beth.bos (talk) 00:15, 9 August 2012 (UTC)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Beth: Found another article: http://www.tandfonline.com.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/doi/abs/10.1080/01944368508976833 ....examines the physical design of malls with relation to social reforms. --Beth.bos (talk) 03:49, 9 August 2012 (UTC)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amanda: So what do we have thus far? what should we add? I'm going to double check my part.--Amanda.J.James (talk) 19:00, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Amanda: Right okay I just copy and pasted our talk...we had it in the wrong area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amanda.J.James (talkcontribs) 19:04, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Natasha: I posted my piece in, Beth could you help me with the editing? :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talkcontribs) 20:47, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Beth: Yes I will definitely look at it. I think we have a lot of edits made already. --Beth.bos (talk) 20:53, 14 August 2012 (UTC)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amanda: Something looks a bit off with the citations...Natasha did you get those from the "Our History" section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amanda.J.James (talkcontribs) 20:55, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 21:01, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: Ooooo wow, I didn't even notice I was doing that. Ill take another look and fix them. Amanda should I cite it directly from the part of the link I got it from. Like instead of "Our History" I would type "Tourist Information"??Reply

Amanda: Yeah you would have to cite "Tourist Information" if that's where you got it from. The reference has to take you to the specific area you borrowed the idea from. You could even look at "Guest Services" if that helps with your part. I'm just going to read over your section now.--Amanda.J.James (talk) 21:05, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 21:06, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: Okay greatly appreciated :)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 21:07, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: Beth hows the editing going? hope every things up to snuff lolReply

Beth: I think that you could cut down your six sections of customer experience. You repeat a lot of information...so just consolidate it all into one or two sentences per section. But other than that yes :)--Beth.bos (talk) 21:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amanda: Yeah, I noticed that too...by the way, Natasha...In your section are you talking about the art gallery in the mall or the temporary art exhibition by High schools? My high school used to display our artwork there ;;)--Amanda.J.James (talk) 21:27, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amanda: Oh man..okay don't do full quotations. You can integrate the quote. Like your first sentence of "Convenience"..It says: "Sherway Gardens is located just west of downtown (in the former City of Etobicoke) at the junction of Hwy. 427 & QEW. There is easy direct access to the shopping centre from both QEW and Hwy. 427 via Sherway Gardens Road." Don't quote it, but rather put it in your own words and just cite it...wait do you think that's common knowledge? Maybe it doesn't need a citation. Ask Beth shes the expert LOL--Amanda.J.James (talk) 21:42, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 21:51, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: LOL that's pretty cool, but I'm talking about the Artworld Gallery, for "professionals" to show their work.Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 21:53, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: ok ok, I understand what you're saying. Let me see what I can do. We don't want to plagiarize now ;)Reply

Amanda: oh alright and yeah DEFINITELY not! Cite! Cite! Cite! Beth when you're done in the sandbox let me know. I want to add some links into the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amanda.J.James (talkcontribs) 21:55, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Beth: Done ...for now :) Amanda, I reworded the sections you mentioned...don't you worry. I'm just finishing up the edits. I think it is a lot more concise now...I hope.--Beth.bos (talk) 22:01, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Beth: I think we should put the mall hours as a separate heading...how do I do that? --Beth.bos (talk) 22:07, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 22:09, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: Aaah ok, well you have to put 3 equal signs ( = ) in front and after the heading. That should do the trick :)Reply

Amanda: I messed around with the formatting a bit. Natasha, can you add the mall hours using bullet points?--Amanda.J.James (talk) 22:21, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Beth: So I think that we are basically done. I was looking at the "Film Shoots" section that was there previously. Should we put citations in? I know we are not writing more information in the section, but I think it would be best if we did. --Beth.bos (talk) 22:33, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 23:18, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: I just realized I didn't cite the other categories properly....Reply

Amanda: Okay let me help with the format...Give me a second--Amanda.J.James (talk) 23:19, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 23:25, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: I hope were almost doneReply

Beth: Okay. So I went over it again...and I think everything is good. Amanda, please post :)

--Natasha.A.Butzow (talk) 23:41, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Natasha: DONE DONE DONE DONE!!Reply
