Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Spsmonogram.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 18:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Spschapel.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Spschapel.jpeg. The copy called Image:Spschapel.jpeg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 19:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Top_Field.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Papa November 19:48, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:Top Field.jpg. For legal reasons, we will delete copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites (http://www.spsdarjeeling.com/ in this case) or from printed material.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article's [[Talk:Image:Top Field.jpg|talk page]] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Image talk:Top Field.jpg with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article's [[Talk:Image:Top Field.jpg|talk page]]. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Image talk:Top Field.jpg with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own original words to avoid any copyright infringement. Thank you. Jesse Viviano 19:58, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Spsmonogram.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:44, 31 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thank you. Images

edit

Please do not upload copyrighted images to Wikipedia. You claim that the the images have been released in the public domain, but the source website has a clear copyright notice.

Wikipedia cannot accept non-free images for legal reasons. The images have to be released under a free license (specified at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Free licenses). The non-free content is limited to special cases, such as logos.

If the images uploaded by you have been released into public domain by the copyright holder, please ask the copyright holder to forward the permission to the Wikipedia Foundation: permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org. The permission should be sent from an e-mail address associated with the copyright holder such as somebody@zubin.com or somebody@spsdarjeeling.com.

If you continue to upload images without ignoring copyright policies, they will be deleted as copyright violation and you'll be blocked from editing. utcursch | talk 14:21, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

We are very much interested in images, but not in images illegally lifted from other websites. We would certainly like to believe you that you've the permission to use these images, but we cannot just blindly believe anybody. Otherwise, any person can take copyrighted images from any website and upload them to Wikipedia, claiming that s/he has the permission to do so. Since you're the person who is uploading these images to Wikipedia, it's your duty to make sure that the Wikimedia Foundation receives a proper permission to use these images. The Wikimedia Foundation doesn't want to get sued by Mr. Zubin or SPS Darjeeling for stealing images from their websites.

Wikipedia aims to create a free encyclopedia, which means all the text is licensed under GFDL and all the images are licensed a free license. For some images (such as logos, film posters), the non-free fair use clause can be used. So, you can upload the logo of the school as fair use by tagging it as {{logo}} and providing a fair use rationale. But, other non-free images are not acceptable.

It's evident that you are not the creator or copyright holder of the images being uploaded by you. The images have been taken from two other websites, both of which have explicit copyright ("all rights reserved") notices. That means, for legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept these images, unless a permission is received.

It's your duty to make sure (and provide the proof) that those images have been released under public domain or some free license.

If the images have been released under public domain or some free license, please ask Mr. Zubin or SPS Darjeeling to send an e-mail to permissions (at) wikimedia (dot) org, saying that they are the copyright owner of these images, and they've released these images under public domain or some free license.

I'm sure that if Mr. Zubin is generous enough to have released under these images under public domain (as you claim), he must be generous enough to spent two minutes sending an e-mail to the Wikimedia Foundation.

The e-mail should be sent to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org, from an e-mail address associated with zubin.com or spsdarjeeling.com, in following format:

I hereby assert that I am the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright of all these images:

  • [PROVIDE LINKS TO IMAGES HERE]

I agree to publish that work under [PROVIDE A FREE LICENSE HERE (e.g. GFDL, Public Domain etc.)].

I acknowledge that I grant anyone the right to use the work in a commercial product, and to modify it according to their needs.

I am aware that I always retain copyright of my work, and retain the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be attributed to me.

I am aware that the free license only concerns copyright, and I reserve the option to take action against anyone who uses this work in a libelous way, or in violation of personality rights, trademark restrictions, etc.

I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the image may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

DATE, NAME OF THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER

If no such permission is received, we will obviously assume that the images have been illegally taken from these websites. They'll be deleted because the Wikimedia Foundation doesn't want to get sued for copyright violation. utcursch | talk 04:37, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry about time -- there's no need to hurry. The images can always be undeleted, so it's OK if Mr. Zubin takes "more than two minutes". Cheers! utcursch | talk 12:52, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please stop uploading images lifted from http://www.spsdarjeeling.com/ and other websites, without sending a permission to OTRS. If you've the permission from the copyright holder of these images, please forward it to permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org. If you upload a copyrighted image without permission, as you did at Image:View from godard.jpg, you'll be blocked for copyright violation. utcursch | talk 07:41, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
