Speedy deletion nomination of Common sense for Connecticut edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Common sense for Connecticut, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Common sense for Connecticut and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bearian (talk) 00:19, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Common Sense for Connecticut edit

Hello, I received your message.

First, to respond to your question: Another editor, "Polaron," first tagged it, but I tagged it for speedy deletion. I don't have any idea who this person is - he (or she?) has decided to remain completely anonymous. I don't have the access ("checkuser" rights) to determine who that is. All I do know is that Polaron is an established editor, who has worked on many Connecticut-related articles, often trying to save them. It was actually deleted by "Fastily," who is an established administrator here at English Wikipedia. Sorry, but it was gone quite quickly.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not a webhost, is not a source of primary information, is not a place to show off a point of interest, is not a place to advocate on an issue of public policy, and is especially not a place to advertise. You might not think it was spam, but there wasn't much else there, except what we define by consensus as such. As a general rule, entries like what you made are not really articles; they are an electronic soap box. If you wish to advertise your opinion, I suggest you do what I do sometime: I write letters to the editor, create a blog, or canvass or petition your neighbors.

Sometimes, I will create a sandbox for a new user to draft an article according to our basic rules and editing guidelines, such as how to identify good sources. If you can convince me that you want to write a neutral, reasonable article about the phrase "Common Sense for Connecticut," which will be brutally edited by others, then get back to me. If you just want to advertise your position, then I can't help you. Bearian (talk) 19:30, 12 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
