Please put the page in your watchlist. I started working out the article. I concentrated the problematic sections and put an NPOV label on it. I don't know yet what to do with them, wholesale delete them or reedit them extensively. Also, I started translating History from the Hebrew Wikipedia. MathKnight 19:20, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel
editShalom Almog: Please contact User:Humus sapiens who wishes to start a Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel See his request below. Thanks IZAK 08:03, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi IZAK (and everyone else here :), Do you think it's time to create Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel similar to Wikipedia:Wikiportal/India, Wikipedia:Wikiportal/New Zealand and other Category:Wikiportals? I'm writing this here because it was you who made those wonderful templates and we don't have a portal yet where we could communicate. What do you think? ←Humus sapiens←Talk 05:26, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Humus, it's only me here, but I will pass your message on to "everyone". Yes, your suggestion is excellent, it is certainly time for what you describe, but I have no experience with Wikipedia portals, and if you know how, go ahead and start an Israel portal and I am sure editors of Israel-related articles will support you and join in the effort/s. Behatzlachah. IZAK 05:33, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Almog! Sure, let's work together to make it beautiful. As you know, this is all about constructive collaboration, so go ahead and be bold. ←Humus sapiens←Talk 18:18, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- Almog, consider youself invited to WP:WNBI. Spread the word. ←Humus sapiens←Talk 09:48, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
Image tagging request
editCould you please add the copyright tags of your choice to:
→Raul654 07:59, May 31, 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Raoul. I took all of these pictures. I uploaded them first to the Hebrew Wiki and later to the En Wiki. I want everyone to use them without any conditions. How should I tag them? Almog 10:49, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
- Well, in that case, you could use either public domain ({{PD}} , template:PD), or CopyrightedFreeUse ({{CopyrightedFreeUse}}, template:CopyrightedFreeUse) →Raul654 10:57, May 31, 2005 (UTC)
Site link
editOk... This site is by a Palestinian whose parents fled Jaffa in 1948. In calling Israel's presence in Jaffa "occupation", it expresses his opinion (a fairly common one among Palestinian refugees) on the nature of Israel's presence in Jaffa. This opinion is not shared by most international observers; that doesn't make it propaganda. It's just another point of view, and one we have no business suppressing. The Palestinians who fled Jaffa in 1948 are a part of the city's history too, and their opinions need to be represented among the links just as Israeli ones are. - Mustafaa 22:30, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Having only looked at that site birefly, I tend to agree. I don't find it serves a hugely propagandist role; it is pov, but that is why it is in the exteral links section rather than noted in the body of the article where it would have to adhere to npov. El_C 02:04, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC) ,בברכה
- thank you for your comments. please see my reply in the Jaffa talk page. Almog 05:53, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
What amazes me is that so far nobody's brought up the fact that they were Arabs who fled, not Palestinians. In 1948, "Palestinians" were Jews. This remained the case until the PLO coöpted the name in 1964. Tomer TALK 00:59, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)
Crazy changes by Gilgamesh
editUnfortunately, User:Gilgamesh is now imposing his own views by changing the transliterated Hebrew names of articles with redirects to unreadable Hebrew names and fonts, as if his criteria are the only ones to reckon with, when there are in fact several. My computer, as I am sure many others' as well, does not pick up his type of fonts, and thus he is messing up articles such as Safed, Hadera, Holon, Afula, Arad, Israel and many others defacing them and making them unreadable on the web. He is going to DESTROY the normal usage of Wikipedia's Hebrew transliterations to satisfy his own needs without there being any consensus. Common usages are being thrown out in favor of obscure and pedantic academic usages familiar to only a handful of unkown academics. He should be called upon to stop BEFORE he rushes to do further damage without any consensus being reached. All his changes should therefore be reverted. See all his recent contributions via: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Gilgamesh I thank you for your interest, and urge all readers here to act. IZAK 03:47, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
Hebrew naming conventions
editAt the present time there is a serious discussion taking place, aiming at some consensus that will result in "official" Wikipedia guidelines about how Hebrew should be used and written in Wikipedia articles. Because of your past or ongoing interest in these type of articles with Hebrew words in them, your attention is called to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Hebrew) [1] TO MAKE YOUR VIEWS KNOWN AND TO ADD TO THE DISCUSSION BEFORE THE "DOORS ARE SHUT" PLEASE SEE THE RELATED DISCUSSION PAGE AT Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Hebrew) [2] Thank you! Image copyright problem with Image:Migdalafula.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Migdalafula.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Stan 04:11, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
IDF and Military of Israel
editHi Almog: Please take a look at the vote at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 September 10#Category:Israel Defense Forces. Your expertise is required. Thanks a lot. IZAK 12:20, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Your contact info
editHi Almog: Hope all is well. You have not enabled your Wikipedia Email feature in your "tool box" on the left hand side of your user page. Sometimes editors overlook that when it's a useful way of staying in touch with other editors. Best wishes. IZAK 12:41, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Almog. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Almog~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
