Hi there,

Thanks for that it at least give proof that they aired first 91-104 are sourceable from other sources but seaosn 3 isnt so this is the best i can do to prove they aired in the uk first.--Andrewcrawford (talk) 11:28, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

The information you keep trying to add is unnecessary, nor actually accurate. While you didn't get the 39 episode hack, you did still get Cardcaptors (see the main article), and official that is episode one. Your network just aired it in the proper CCS order. Also, the citations you are trying to add do not support the text. For Syaoran's first appearance, ep 7 doesn't really count because he isn't introduced or anything, just briefly flashed at the end. That can be noted in the prose, but for the infobox, its just episode 8. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 22:21, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

None of the data I have that doesn't refer to the American version states that CCS episode 8 is CC episode 1 though. Infact one of the DVDs I have identifies it as "Episode 2". We don't refer to Pocket Monsters episode 15 as Pokémon episode 1, now do we? I'll try and improve the section on Cardcaptors in the main article too, thanks for pointing me to it. Hi, I'm not trying to vandalise, I'm trying to correct things. I didn't delete any sources. If I could source things properly I would, but outside of American stuff there doesn't seem to be much detail about CardCaptors on any source you consider reliable. If you know how to source them properly and would help me in doing so I would happily give you any info you need that I have. For that there were two dubs, I have checked, and the two versions of episode 7 I have, one on R1, and one on R2, have about ~5% of lines different (I mean the episode The Mysterious Painting, not the American episode 7, actual episode 25, Double Take). There is plenty of info on fansites but I don't know if those can be sourced. Here are some... http://www.michaelsfavorites.com/international.html This page shows lists of episodes shown in countries other than America, remarks on the dubbed opening and ending theme music, although there are mistakes there too.

http://www.ccsvscc.com/updates.html This page slightly mentions that Australia has shown episodes in the correct order. http://www.tv.com/cardcaptors/official-cardcaptors-asking-questions-thread/topic/1591-625326/msgs.html Here too it's mentioned that Australia dubbed the first opening theme (at least).

Some things I do know for sure:

• There were two different dubs made. Whether or not the 39 episode version is an adaptation of the 70 episode version or a simultaneously created version however I don't know. The dub of episode 3 supports that they were simultaneously created, and the R2 dub of episode 7 supports that they weren't (however the R1 dub supports that they were).
• The version aired in Australia dubbed at least 2 openings and endings, CATCH YOU CATCH ME and Groovy!. I have seen on sites like YouTube videos claiming to be of Platina and Fruits Candy, but none showing the actual video that would have been broadcast in Australia, only ever with dogs from Japanese TV stations or credits from R1 sub DVDs, or no text at all, from a Japanese textless version. There does seem to be a heavily distributed audio no-one has claimed that they have fandubbed, and seem to have better audio quality than any fan creation would have, as well as lyrics fans would probably not dub toward.
• Cardcaptors started being televised here in August 2001. I do not have any exact date available, though I could possibly find one.
• The Australian version is much closer to the Japanese version. On just the first Australian DVD you can see screenshots of scenes painted over in other versions, not painted over, and the menu uses the B-side to CATCH YOU CATCH ME as background music.

I hope at least some of this information can help put together more correct information about the international version of Cardcaptors. For now I'll probably leave alone stuff related to it other than things like grammar and spelling corrections. Akata (talk) 02:16, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

People's personal websites are not reliable sources, nor are fansites, nor is TV.com forums, nor are YouTube videos which are illegal. Without actual reliable sources, as per WP:RS, at best all can be said is what is currently said (and that may even end up remove if reliable sources can't back it up). -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Sure... it just seems odd that such a difference to the core of the show is not able to be mentioned on Wikipedia.

There is one point on WP:RS that may help though, the quote; "However, audio, video, and multimedia materials that have been recorded then broadcast, distributed, or archived by a reputable third-party may also meet the necessary criteria to be considered reliable source. Like text sources, media sources must be produced by a reliable third-party and be properly cited. Additionally, an archived copy of the media must exist. It is useful but by no means necessary for the archived copy to be accessible via the internet." The international cut of Cardcaptors certainly was recorded onto some media in order to be broadcast in other countries, and an archived copy of the media does exist, although not accessible by the internet. Would this maybe help somehow? I just don't want the international cut of Cardcaptors to be reduced to something like half a sentence as it is on the Japanese Wikipedia. WP:RS also says that "Wikipedia articles should cover all major and significant-minority views", and it seems (to me, at least) that something like the international cut of Cardcaptors is at least a significant-minority view of Cardcaptors, airing in at least 6 countries compared to the Kids' WB version's 1. The international cut is mentioned appropriately. Its based on Cardcaptors, which itself is an adaptation of the anime which is an adaptation of the manga. I suppose you're right... I sometimes forget that something which even everyone I know may know of may only make up a speck in an ocean of different perspectives. As I have expressed above, I'm not certain that the international version was based on the American version, considering cases like CardcaptorsUS-20 "The Mysterious Painting" and CardcaptorsInternational-7 "The Mysterious Painting" having slightly different dubs, with the US-20 version being more similar to the rest of the Cardcaptors dub and the International-7 version being more similar to the Japanese version, both in line translation closeness and subjects avoided. So that Cardcaptors may be a minority compared to CardCaptor Sakura, as for which cut is the minority among the versions of Cardcaptors I'm still not going to say that it's either. There is one thing I will not relinquish on though, and that is that even given a tiny view as it is, I feel it should be dealt with at least correctly. The sentence part "[T]he skipped episodes were restored, but the other edits remained." seems to say to me as if in all other countries things like redubbing lines to fit in with the US episode order and using the Dave Dore Cardcaptors Theme are consistent among all international versions. It also raises questions on instances where no episode was skipped, only remade to fit in with the US cut's image (e.g., episode CardcaptorsUS-18 "One Fateful Day" / CardcaptorsInternational-41 "The Sands of Time"). If "[T]he skipped episodes were restored, but the other edits remained." is changed to something like "[T]he skipped episodes were restored, but most of the other edits remained." or "[T]he skipped episodes were restored, but the majority of other edits remained." or "[T]he skipped episodes were restored, but some of the other edits remained." or even "[T]he skipped episodes were restored, but other edits remained." then I feel as though that at least though I may not be happy about the size it's given, the information given will be correct and that's good enough for me. Yugioh GX

Why did you undo my removal i said why i removed it, one ther eis no source, the sourfce there is hte one i put for the uk dvd releqase, secondly where is dk?

I reverted the removal of the Denmark DVD release information as googling any of the volume names easily confirms that they were released. How's the source I added to the article? Gin Tama chapters

Sorry about that. For some reason, while comparing the titles from s-manga and booknavi (that feature the first pages of each Shueisha's volume in Japan) I found it identical to the Chinese titles I found in the web (although I had no idea they were in Chinese).Tintor2 (talk) 01:07, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

And is there any reason the first CD contains transliterations with English words instead of translations?

The articles were only recently merged to Music of Cutie Honey a few days ago, and until then only had the transliterations[1]. I also went through the original article's history and it seems that the article was created with the transliterations. It is my opinion that the titles should be translated (and per previous discussions on WT:ANIME, own translation may be done if there is no official translated titles available). List of Rurouni Kenshin chapters

Some time ago, I added all the kanji to List of Rurouni Kenshin chapters. However, I have problems with the romaji as I don't know when to make spaces or use capitals. Could you check it? Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 15:47, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Alright, how's this? I went through and found furigana for each chapter, and derived the romaji from them, so some don't match exactly (i.e., Ugoku Riyuu(kanji) vs Ugoku Wake(furi)), fixed up all the oddities in the romaji already there e.g., one point had Kouen for Kouhen, and added kanji and romaji for the special chapters.

Though looking through chapter lists I did find two chapters not listed on the page, I'm not quite sure what to do with them, so I put them up in the final volume but commented them out. They are: Special Chapter #4: "Yahiko's Sakabatō" (特別編④　弥彦の逆刃刀, Tokubetsuhen 4: "Yahiko no Sakabatō") and Special Chapter #5: "Spring Cherry Blossoms" (特別編⑤　春に桜, Tokubetsuhen 5: "Haru ni Sakura"). SP4, according to the intro isn't in the original release, yet is obviously mentioned in the summary, so something's wrong, and I'm not sure where SP5 came from, but it's in the Kanzenban. If neither is supposed to be there then just remove them, else if they are then uncomment them.

Another thing you may want to check is that it's turned out several titles are translated two ways; Mitsurugi, Master and Student(more direct) and The Mitsurugi Apprenticeship, and Do You Still Bear the Scar? and Cross-Shaped Scar (direct: Do you still bear the cross-shaped scar?). Though being Viz, it wouldn't surprise me for them to use two different translations...

Thanks. Yahiko's Sakabatō and Spring Cherry Blossoms weren't released in tankobon format, with the former published in kanzenban and the latter in an artbook. There are two lists, List of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle chapters and List of xxxHolic chapters that are lacking some kanji. (Tsubasa's list lacks original titles in both vols 20 and 21, while the some xxxHolic lack various).Tintor2 (talk) 15:40, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Who romanised this?!

I saw the question you'd left in your edit summary at List of Satellaview broadcasts ("Who translated this?! Rather, who romanised this?!"). I must confess that it was I who had made the feeble attempt. Thank you for correcting my many errors. I'm not a native speaker and I frequently make mistakes despite my best efforts. I tend to think of all articles on Wikipedia as works in progress. I try my hardest of course, but I rely on the community to make up for my shortcomings.
