Your nomination at Articles for Creation was a success, and Medical Expenditure Panel Survey was created.

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

I've noticed that you've added quite a few links to asdfree.com (what appears to be a personal blog) to articles about surveys. Is this your blog? This information doesn't seem relevant to an encyclopedia article about these topics. Frankly, it comes across as spam, because without any disclaimer in the edit summary that this is your website (if it is), it isn't clear that it needs to be added to articles en masse. I raised a discussion about this, though, so other users can weigh in.

  • Ajdamico, I looked at the links and they are not acceptable per WP:EL. That it's your writing is pretty clear from the mechanics of your writing, and that makes it spamming. Please stop. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 21:36, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

makes sense, thanks, and sorry. is it acceptable to instead link directly to the computer programming syntax/code to work with each of those public use microdata sets? or is that also a violation? code to work with the data sets described (free, open source, gpl-3) is posted within the various folders here: http://github.com/ajdamico/asdfree this code has been directly referenced/cited by some of the purveyors of the microdata sets themselves, such as the us bureau of labor statistics, the federal reserve, the brazilian institute of statistics and geography. the code stored on github.com is a significant extension beyond the wikipedia articles (since it provides usage examples for individuals to actually work with the data) and it's no longer the blog. would that be an acceptable revision of the previous links? thanks

  • I'm sorry, I find it hard to figure out what you mean. But you're still linking to data on your own website. If I were you I'd find the right place on the WP:Village Pump to ask that question. Drmies (talk) 23:57, 3 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • i'm not linking to data on my website, i'm linking to syntax that's useful to work with the data. are you able to see all of the folders on https://github.com/ajdamico/asdfree  ? these each contain computer code -- not data -- that details how to work with each of these data sets. each of the wikipedia entries describe a public-use dataset, but data users still need examples to get started with actually using the data. is a link to https://github.com/ajdamico/asdfree allowed? it is just the programming syntax example, not a re-hashing of the data. thanks again!
    • I think you should post your concerns in this section instead of here, so everyone involved can respond. Some discussion has already taken place there too, so that might be worth a read. The issue isn't that your rehashing the data; the issue is that you're promoting and advertising your work and your website in an encyclopedia article, and it doesn't belong there. Like I said, though, ask about it in this section, since that's where the issue is being discussed. fs (talk) 20:12, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
