St Thomas Christians edit

Hi Achayan, Nice to hear from you. I know you belong to Syro Malabar Church. I would like to work on any site impartially. There are problems on this site to be addressed. History part is just speculations and claims and not based on real facts or published references.

I use Catholic references like Catholic encyclopedia, Britannica and Catholic historians mainly for references.

History division diagram has factual errors. It says the church split in 1665 ,however it split in 1653 after coonan cross. Malabar independent church is an oriental Orthodox Church however depicted as reformed Church. These matters should be addressed and corrected to improve the quality of information on this site. Catholic encyclopedia says we were in communion with church of the East from AD 496. Before that we were a part of Universal church. We need to address a lot of things on this site to improve the quality and truthfulness of the information .I humbly request you not to post any photos of people including yours on this site. You can post photos of common things to St Thomas christians otherwise specifically say which section it belongs to. West Syrian liturgy and East Syrian liturgy celebration (raza) to be posted. You can post a raza picture of Syro Malabar Church saying celebration of East Syrian liturgy. I don't think baptismal font is used in syro malabar church for baptism. Also arakkuzha church is not an important church among Syro Malabar. Please include some famous church that every body knows. Viz champakkulam church, malayttoor, kuravilangad etc Thanks Will talk in detail. Kokkarani

Hi Achayan, In one sense you r right. The split was not an abrupt split in 1653.When I did some research on this, I found out that only 400 remained loyal to the Padroado. All others stayed with Arch deacon. Later Carmelite mission regained 84 churches leaving Marthoma 32 in 1662.Two or 3 churches were owned together. So the split started in 1653 and completed in 1662. Our diagram shows the split in 1665 which is a clear errorof fact. More over Malabar I independent church was formed in 1772 but shown as 1771 which is also an error. Another thing is that Malabar I independent church is an independent Oriental Orthodox Church which is shown as Reformed Syrian church- a big mistake.
