Hello, I'm ThaddeusSholto. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 19:54, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

With that logic, then all Wikipedia articles are thus promotional. No, what I'm doing is adding information about he history and mission of my workplace. There has been no addition of language asking people to sign up for services or to buy a product - things which would be promotional. Please know the difference and allow me to update the page as needed. -Andrew Rohe, Marketing Director, Academy of Vocal Arts Academy of Vocal Arts (talk) 19:58, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 20:11, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please explain to me exactly why I cannot add factual updates to my workplace's article. Academy of Vocal Arts (talk) 20:13, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
The information below explains your conflict of interest and a great deal of your promotional text is a copyright violation from your own website. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 20:23, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Academy of Vocal Arts. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 20:11, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 22:33, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
