  • All tasks must be answered by using Special:Diff. See Help:Diff for further detailed instructions and see an example below
Tasks

  1. Find an example of student edit on an article and warning message that the student received on his/her talk page

Wikipedia is not a site to propagate controversy or propaganda. The policy clearly outlines what Wikipedia is not. The user (Thinker78) received a warning about writing controversies.

  1. Find an example of student edits on an article (it requires several edits to be an edit warring) and warning that the student received on his or her talk page.

The student engaging in edit warring is tagged in the link (Firooz Peyravi) the link also provides the warning received on his talk page from Wikipedia.

  1. Find an example of a student who has been warned about it on his/her talk page. Find an example (Wikipedia diff on an article) where copyrighted media (image, VDO or sound files) is deleted from Wikimedia commons and removed from an article.

The user Tuna4tina had image files deleted for copyright violations claims.

Please propose a topic or two that you wish to write on Wikipedia. You should read all related articles/policies on Wikipedia and provide the following information.

    • For new article, explain briefly why it passes WP:NOTE.
    • For existing topics, explain briefly the state/structure of the current article.
      • Is the structure & existing content appropriate?
        • If not, restructure or remove content as per WP:MOS and WP:NOT before you move to the next stage.
  2. Brief outline of your contributions to the article
    • In what section & what content
      • Make sure it belongs to the article and it is encyclopedic. See WP:NOT for things that should NOT be added.
      • Make sure that it is not redundant to existing articles. Use Google search "site:wikipedia.org" rather than Wikipedia search.

    • Media files (photo/VDO/drawing) to be used in the article.
      • You may suggest plan to create your own work and upload to Wikimedia Commons

  3. Examples/template/related articles that you will use as a model to develop your nominated article.
    • In terms of WP:MOS/formatting - your article will have similar style/format/tone to these articles.
    • In terms of content - your article will link to or will be linked from these articles.

OUTLINE OF WIKIPEDIA TASK

The chosen article is Gas Laws

An article related to the chemical compound. For new article, explain why it passes WP notes?

The information on the article can be verified through the use of experiments. The topic will be discussed into details. The answers of the new article are reliable and can be easily verified. This means that it qualifies to be called Wikipedia notes.

For existing topics, explain briefly the structure of the current article?

The article has provided various definitions of vocabulary or complex terms. The article should use appropriate languages and describe the topic into details. After a proper description, the article should summarize the topic and give more examples.

Are the structure and the existing content appropriate?

No

Restructure according to the guidelines of WP notes The authors of the article should be included and also acknowledgement. The current article has adhered to this structure.

Briefly outline of your contribution to the article

Content of the article I would mainly contribute to the headings and the summary of the article as these are the most important aspects of the article. I would describe some of the experiments to prove the validity of these gas laws. I would also consider including some of the most frequently asked questions on this topic. In addition to that, I would ensure that I suggest possible future uses of the concept.

Referencing

When referencing the task, I would include the exact time and date that the article was written in order to avoid confusion. I would include both the title and subtitles of the article during the referencing of the task. The URL will be included in the article written during the process of referencing.

Media

In addition to that, I would use graphs that are related to gas laws. The graphs and other images will be in the form of PNG, SVG and most importantly JPEG. I would tend to avoid using any kind of image that is in the form of BMP. I will use videos in OGG format. Examples of related articles that will be used I will use an article on Charles Law in order to give strength to my article. Charles Law is one of the gas laws. I would ensure that the title of my article is written in italics just like the other article. Visual Editor will be used in order to format the article. Most information will be borrowed from Charles Law and used to build on the concepts of Gas Laws. Since gas laws in a wide topic, some information will be added in order to make it complete.

ICCH224 Week 04

Your topic is approved and added to the course page. Please develop the proposal into the first draft in your sandbox.

  • For existing article, you may copy some parts of the existing article to your sandbox to see how revision/integration of content would work. You will copy the code back to the article at later stage.
  • For new article, you may want to copy parts of a template article to your sandbox to see what sections are necessary. The sandbox will be moved to the article namespace at later stage. Please do not click "Submit your draft for review!". The function is not applicable to our course.

In all cases, do not copy more than what is necessary. For example, do not copy any categories to your sandbox. --Teetee taw (talk) 15:24, 20 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia Education Program. Your assignment is not completed by the deadline and we have to move on with a smaller group of students. Your voluntary work on Wikipedia are still welcome but will not be graded. --Taweetham (talk) 03:20, 25 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

I guess I've completed everything within the due dates mentioned to me. It got a bit delayed with my first proposal because I thought we could only write on what's in our course and nothing new. But it's okay. As it is I was doing this work for experience no the grades. I will post my first draft soon.

Thanks.
