Ham and Brownies day edit

You say it's an "obscure internet holiday". In fact it's so obscure that it has left no trace at all on Google or News. Is your source an independent reliable one? If it's just a web-site someone has set up, that's not enough.

If a subject is too obscure, it doesn't get a Wikipedia article. Just being true is not enough - it has to be verifiable and the subject has to be notable. Check out these pages:

  • Verifiability, which includes: "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true."
  • Notability, a requirement to have a Wikipedia article, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases.

Good advice in WP:Your first article, and do read WP:NFT too. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:01, 27 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
