Milburn edit

Yes I did see that article today, and I have even already added it as a reference to Milburn's article! It's going to be a useful referemce to expand Milburn's article further, as it's looking pretty dismal for a player who's played 250 games! Btw, good luck on your FA nomination of Selwood, I hope it passes! - Allied45 (talk) 03:23, 1 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I think they're just cruising until the finals, and not worrying too much about the matches before then. Although, the amount of injuries are concerning, and yes, some players are just not playing their best. It's still disappointing for the fans, but if it works out to be a better September, I won't be complaining! – Allied45 (talk) 02:04, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Down's syndrome discussion pages edit

Hey Aaroncrick, I was wondering why the deletion of these recent (albeit derogatory) comments from the Down's syndrome discussion pages? Okay, these are silly comments, but I thought contributions toward the discussion pages should only get deleted (or edited by others) in very rare circumstances? Wouldn't it have been better to address the issue discussed, rather than delete it? Assuming good faith on the part of the editor who uttered the comments, they reflect a particular interpretation of the article and so might be considered worthy of inclusion on the discussion page. By removing the comments, other editors are made less aware of the prejudice and discrimination that is directed against people with Down's syndrome. Just a thought --Nicholas (talk) 11:24, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't mind if you revert my edits. Although I've seen how silly comments like those are often reverted. I doubt this editor will even come back to check the page anyhow. But I suppose It doesn't matter, all the best. Aaroncrick (talk) 11:28, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Reference spam edit

You added a reference to the Peter FitzSimons book Great Australian Sports Champions to 17 articles in the space of 20 minutes. You did not add any in-line references, in the articles, to this book. It looked to me that the purpose of the citations was to promote the book. There are probably 30 to 40 books which have been written about the subject of the article Phar Lap, which would be a better citation source than the FitzSimons book. The same probably applies to all the other articles where you added the reference. It looked like you were spamming the book which is why I deleted the reference in the Phar Lap article. Regards. Cuddy Wifter (talk) 01:48, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes I don't have a problem with reverting the edit on B-class articles but many articles barely have any refs. It would have been better to add an in-line ref but we do use External Links don't we? Also I don't see why you'd think I was promoting the book. You were a long way off the mark there. Like the majority of cricket article use Cricinfo as a source and that doesn't mean the editor was 'spamming' or 'promoting' the website. Thankyou. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:14, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

York Park history edit

Hi.

Second paragraph of article starts: "York Park has been used as an international sports venue since 2001. Beforehand, only North Launceston and state games were played."

First sentence - do you mean matches between two international teams, and not matches like the soccer Tas v English FA XI in 1951 ?

Not sure why the second sentence is there - accidentally left from another edit perhaps ?

Presume you are aware that major mainland clubs or representative sides regularly played first-class matches there from 1923 to late 1950s, and 1960s to 1980s less frequently but still every now and then.

If you weren't aware and would like to consider using material, I can guide you to a comprehensive list.

I have Tamim's number...

Just thought you'd like to know... if you have any questions anything at all just go to me and I'll email Tamim

Your vote at Sam Loxton with the Australian cricket team in England in 1948 is false as the nominator doesn't want the information deleted, just the physical articles deleted (via a merge). If you read the nomination, he stated that the articles were notable (the basis for your vote) and that the information could better be presented elsewhere. The reason I am coming here is that your !vote had nothing to do with any merge proposals and I want to see what your opinon would be on that. So could you please revisit the discussion and append your !vote accordingly. Thanks in advance. Tavix |  Talk  00:01, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I don't get your point. The majority of information would have to get deleted if it is to get merged into the main article. Therefore the spin out articles will get deleted. In any case the info of the 1948 tour is already in the specific players articles, so nearly all info will go down the gurgler.Aaroncrick (talk) 00:25, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Don't be ridiculous. You don't seem to like how I've agreed with Bidgee about removing your images you've added to articles. You then reverted his edits using Rollback and I said, "If you continue to use Rollback in the wrong manner it may be removed." You should have read the rollback instructions given to you when you received rollback and you'd then be aware that you only use rollback on vandalism cases only. You said "I see Administrators and other users do what I did all of the time," which is not the case (I hope). I said, "Sorry, but I highly doubt it was rollback. They would have more than likely used Twinkle, Huggle or Popups." Saying I was threatening and Taunting you isn't an appropriate statement. "Your trying to draw me into a personal argument" is also incorrect. Thankyou. Aaroncrick (talk) 10:11, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Another edit conflict:
I'm off for the morning (PST) but will hop back on your review later today. It already looks cleaner and has more information than similar pages so nice work. There are a few minor details listed on the review page. The only other possible concern that jumped out was that Bangladesh doesn't seem to receive as much mention in the article but that is to be expected since they were so overwhelmed. That might be fixable with a couple extra lines but I was struggling to see what else really could be added.
Don't feel obligated to go through all of the Qwest Field article since it is so large. Thanks for the heads up on the sourcing. I'll tighten that up since that was an immediate concern.Cptnono (talk) 11:42, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looking forward to reading the article. The Background section needs expanding but I'll get to that soon. There isn't really any pictures of Bangladesh players except for Mohammad Ashraful who didn't perform at all well during the series. Aaroncrick (talk) 11:47, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mentioned it on the talk page but the tweaks to the Lead made it look tighter. There are a few minor things on the talk page.Cptnono (talk) 10:21, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Two trivial changes are requested on the review page (A period instead of a coma in one place and removing a coma and word out of a caption). In regards to the authors, if you don't feel like doing it but don't mind it in, I will be happy to add the authors.Cptnono (talk) 11:35, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the chance to clear through the backlog and learn something new on Wikipedia. While I was worrying over a single comma I finally noticed the guideline says "satisfactory article" but you actually did create a good article. This is especially cool since there are so many partially complete articles that are similar. Nice work.Cptnono (talk) 12:32, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Follow-up: I just noticed some capitalization stuff at WP:CRIC#STYLE. I'm not very familiar with the project but noticed an emphasis on capitalization when referring to "Test matches". Thought a tweak to the first "T" might be needed. If that is the only concern left (if it is even a concern at all) then that is awesome.Cptnono (talk) 12:43, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

York Park is already too good :) I tried finding things to improve but it looks like you already have it under control. Two things noticed:
  • "North Launceston Football Club (NTFL) (?-present)" in the infobox. I tried googling around but could not find the years.
  • Moving the "Northern Stand after fire damage" up or adding the {{clear}} after the paragraph will prevent it from encroaching on the following section and attendance table.
Redevelopment just a few years ago then a fire? Hope they get that money!Cptnono (talk) 08:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I like the structure at Wikipedia:WikiProject Event Venues/Sports task force#Structure. I think that project is dead but there was some useful info over there. If you haven't seen them yet, I think this is close to being the current list of FA grade stadium articles for more info:
City of Manchester Stadium, Portman Road, North Road (stadium), Priestfield Stadium, Dr Pepper Ballpark, and PNC Park.
Many of the FAs don't go into detail on "events" subsection while many of the GAs do. I can't justify leaving them out since it outlines important milestones and detail about what the structure is used for (ie: the details in York Park's Australian Football subsection is just as significant as the area originally being "swampy, sour, and choked with weeds"). I do like seeing history on top just because it goes into detail on the structure and makes more sense in my head chronologically.Cptnono (talk) 09:53, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I would be happy to mention it at FAC but we disagree on the current layout it looks like. I think the History section should come before the Events section. I don't know if this needs to be a requirement for stadium articles but chronologically the stadium was built before the first football match was played.Cptnono (talk) 10:24, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well that is simply ridiculous and now you cannot be accused of campaigning.Cptnono (talk) 10:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I am pretty confident it will pass as soon as you have the chance to finish up the review and adjustments are made. If it takes a little bit longer it takes a little bit longer.Cptnono (talk) 22:02, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
5 weeks? Hopefully it is for fun and not work or a personal emergency. If you see anything during that time let me know.Cptnono (talk) 10:59, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hope the GAs and FACs are going well. I jumped in on few others that I only had limited knowledge of and it was some good stuff (a lower league side in England, a college football team, an NFL team's season page from the other side of the States from before I was born). It doesn't look like it was nearly as much as you, though! I was wondering if you had any additional thoughts on the Qwest Field article. Exactly. But whereas Tendulkar is the local sweetheart, Ganguli is still referred to as the prince because of his ancestry. Though for us he's still the neighbourhood trouble maker. Lol! --Legolas (talk2me) 06:14, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ganguli's fine now, though we don't correspond nowadays. Too much of media mayhem at their place that I stopped going there totally. I prefer going around the town enjoying the festivals and partying at night nowadays. !! --Legolas (talk2me) 06:22, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Passionate to the point of being dangerous. I remember the 96 owrld cup semi final match between Sri lanka and India at Eden Gardens. India lost poorly but hte crowd went wild and set the stadium on fire! We (Me and my elder cousins) barely escaped! --Legolas (talk2me) 06:36, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ya i was only twelve. I remember crying after seeing so much of fire! PS, since you supported at the FAC of "4 Minutes", there are quite a few others who have supported. But do you think it will pass untill and unless User:Tony1 gives his comments? It seems like his comments is the one that matters the most. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:51, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

(Outdent)Hope so. I am waiting for Drewcifer's support also. Hope he gives it. If this time also it fails, I'm gonna lose my interest in FA forever. :( --Legolas (talk2me) 07:00, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Aaron, for passing and the review for "Lucky Star". --Legolas (talk2me)
Oh really? When was your bday? How old did you become? --Legolas (talk2me) 06:55, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Nahh. Nobody is too old for friendship. Even me, who just completed silver jubilee of my life this July. And omg, why didn't you go anywhere? My trip was superb! Took bathe in the falls for 5 hrs, resulted in me being in teh bed for the whole of Sunday with body pain :( --Legolas (talk2me) 07:07, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

AFL edit

Hey are you a footy head

Just wondering I saw you did a fantastic job on Joel Selwood and you sound more like a cricketer too, just wondering...?

--Sydney Swans09 (talk) 08:54, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Good to Know, I'll come to you whever I need help then because I'm always on footy no matter what

I'd rather watch Essendon that watch Australia play in the cricket...
Well if the Crows can't beat this depleted Collingwood outfit, then they're a joke YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 03:31, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah they have got themselves into this position before and stuffed it. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:06, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
AFL articles are riddled with POV. Sometimes you're not sure what's correct and whats not. But once you start removing stuff, you ma as well removed the whole article. I cleaned up Michael Hurley (Australian rules footballer), but that's just one out hundreds of articles. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:39, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re: Gone Too Soon edit

Thanks. :) I'm hoping to take it to FA in the future, and possibly have it on the main page for the anniversary of Jackson's death. Pyrrhus16 10:44, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it does. Pyrrhus16 14:34, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

FLRC delegate election edit

Hi Aaroncrick! I'm just dropping by to let you know of the FLRC delegate election that begins on Tuesday. You may run in the election by following the instructions on the page. If you don't wish to run, please come and vote sometime next week! The election starts Tuesday and ends Saturday. For more information, check out the opening section of the page. Thanks for letting me know. Aaroncrick (talk) 23:02, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Joel Selwood FA edit

Congrats! Came across the article whilst you were in the review process, and you guys have done a great job getting it promoted. I've done a fair bit of work on the Cyril Rioli article and just wondering if you'd be able to pop over and give us a hand, maybe put some suggestions on the talk page or something. Would be very much appreciated, since I usually just edit music articles and we haven't got much to base off of for AFL or sports players in general really. Cheers. (posted to your co-nominator User:Boomtish also) k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 13:00, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Funnily enough, the only reason I watched the page was because of the Delicious vandalism, then got around to improving things and it went from there. Actually easier than the music articles I usually would write. Leon Davis was the goal of the year in 2008, I believe. And I usually leave the lead 'til last, so I can summarise things properly. Will get to it. Thanks. :) k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 05:30, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay I've nominated it. No rush on getting the GA review done, I've been trying to dig up some negative comments on him for neutrality - just not happening for me! k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 06:00, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well done, AFL really needs a boost to kick on YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 06:13, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Problem with Rioli is for whatever reason there is all positive feedback and if not looked after will become prone to a lot of POV pushing. If it becomes a GA I can see it getting desisted as his career develops. I had a quick browse through Flickr but couldn't find any images of him, despite being heaps of Hawthorn images.... Aaroncrick (talk) 06:16, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
You think there'd be any point in creating an account and asking one of the uploaders on Flickr if they would mind releasing an image's copyright for use on WP? I suppose all we can do now is publish what has happened/been reported, if things change in the future and the positivity isn't adjusted, then it'll have to be dealt with then. Think Mike Hussey's article 18 months ago, no one could have predicted what has happened to his record. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 15:19, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yep good point. Or even Matthew Lloyd, as he's career has gone down the gurgler. I suppose he could be like Joel Selwood although I don't rate Rioli as highly. Surprised you're still up. Watching the cricket so that's why I'm still going. Aaroncrick (talk) 15:25, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah no work tomorrow, got home from seeing (500) Days of Summer at midnight and turned on the cricket. :) Rioli hasn't got the glowing records and awards Selwood has, but all commentary and coverage of him seems to be positive. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 16:30, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Lucky you :) Hope to see you contribute to more footy articles in the future. Anyway I'm off. Aaroncrick (talk) 16:35, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
As I said, no rush, whenever it suits you it suits me.
I've done a little investigationating for you; I think the best way to indicate reliability is to establish some with it's mother (server) website, Rleague.com. The stats site is obviously a branch off of the original Rleague (fans') website. A couple of possibly useful links of news sources referring to Rleague: The Sydney Morning Herald 1, The Sydney Morning Herald 2, The Australian 3, The Age 4. We really need to discover their sources, so we can establish where they get their information from and if it is copyrighted or something. I would assume they've grabbed them from a book or something. From my experience with working on music charts, there's always issues with the charts being unofficial and unsanctioned by the associations - thus not being usable. I would have thought stats are a very definite thing though, as there's only one way to accumulate them - so accuracy shouldn't be a problem. Decided not to interrupt your FAC with this, you can use what you want to place a proper argument forward because I'm thinking it would perhaps be better for another source to be found for a FA. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 12:10, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah bad news. This basically counts it out as a reliable source: "I make no claim of 100% accuracy with any data on this website." (Mr Ripper being the source for the crowd figures; a member on the BigFooty forums)Try the thanks section on that page for possible primary sources? k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 12:16, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hellooo edit

Was wondering whther you completed with the GA reviews. And congrats on the FAC. Its going great! Watched last day's match? --Legolas (talk2me) 05:54, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ha ha even me too. Feeling lazy like hell at office. Somehow everybodyu is in the mood for celebration! Did you see MTV VMA? That was some hillarious show! Couldnot stop laughing! --Legolas (talk2me) 06:01, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hey how have you been. I was quite busy over the weekend and couldnot get around at all. I'll be looking out for the vandal. Also, I corrected the Get Together GA concern. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:32, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
No problem. Do at your own time. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:13, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for passing the article Aaron. --Legolas (talk2me) 07:33, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yesss. Only "I'll Remember" left now. After that I'll be on wikibreak for 5-6 days. Will go to hometown. Its some cricket time! --Legolas (talk2me) 06:20, 23 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lauderdale Sports Ground edit

I was going to recreate it as "Lauderdale Oval" because it is the official name, but I'm having difficulties. Is it possible just to rename it "Lauderdale Oval" rather than "Lauderdale Sports Ground"?

Alright, been deleted per Wikipedia:CSD#G7. Aaroncrick (talk) 04:46, 18 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion edit

I notice that you tagged the page File:Kanye-West-grabs-the-mic-2009-vma.jpg for speedy deletion with the reason "invalid fair use image tagged for more than 7 days". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because you did not tag the image for 7 days with {{subst:dfu}}. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:FFD process. Thanks! Anti-Vandlaism edit

Thanks for your work combating vandalism. I noticed that you don't always warn users after you revert their vandalism. It's important that we warn a user every time we revert their vandalism. Hopefully the warning will show them the error in their ways and they will stop. Failing that, we need a proper warning history so that the sys-ops will block a user. Both Huggle and Twinkle automatically warn users. Failing that, you can include the templates manually. Thanks again, and enjoy your day. ~~ Dr Dec (Talk) ~~ 11:08, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I often don't bother warning good faith edits or if it's just once off vandalism. If the editor comes back again I'll nearly always warn. Basically whatever I feel appropriate. Despite reverting vandalism when it appears on my watchlist, I'm not primarily a vandal fighter. Regards Aaroncrick (talk) 11:15, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

York Park edit

Are you going to add the punditry about the quirks of the ground? YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 07:34, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:51, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
For your research interests, do you have chance to visit collection sites like Library or Museum, or are you only able to use online info ? Have some new info if you are able to physically visit reading rooms.
RossRSmith (talk) 10:36, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I suppose I could (especially library) but what do you have in mind? To be honest the article is just dragging along and I'm pretty much sick of the topic. If I end up writing about the NTCA Ground I'll have to visit the upstairs part of the library. Aaroncrick (talk) 10:50, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Given my comment to you a few weeks ago about all the other major football played at the ground in the 20th C. do you think a separate article about history of Australian Football at York Park may be the best way to proceed [and I'm not suggesting you have to write it either if you're moving on to other things] ?
Just as a taster for instance - Collingwood (1923), West Perth (1925), VFL (1932), Victoria versus SouthAus/WestAus combined (1947), Tas v VFA (1968), St Kilda (1974)...and an interstate visitor most other years in between. Plus all the intrastate and State Premiership matches.
Reason for asking is the Community History Centre at the QV Museum, Inveresk is now open 10am - 1pm Tuesday to Saturday. Huge football collections if you get in touch prior to visit.

Great, hope you had a great time. Can't find anything wrong with the article. Fairly short though. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh you reviewd already? Lemme go and check your comments. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:45, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, will do in a few hours, while watching cricket. Aaroncrick (talk) 07:08, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually no, the IP added such unsourced content in other Madonna articles also. I had to revert them. How's the match coming along? By the way, I have one favour to ask. Do you by any chance have any free-image of boxer Vijender Kumar? I am developing his article according to biography standard in my 3rd sandbox from the crap it is at present. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:35, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Pak going average. It appears there isn't a free-image of him unfortunately. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:42, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh god. I have developed the article quite a bit in my sandbox as mentioned above. Could you take a looky since it is my first sport related article? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :) --Legolas (talk2me) 11:12, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

(outdent) India appear to be gone. Why dont you add it to the article? Aaroncrick (talk) 11:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Personal Life should go before biography and the influence bit should be merged into 'Background' or 'Personal Life', whatever you want to call it. Aaroncrick (talk) 11:27, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually in these cases I follow the general norms of WP:BIO and donot include a separate section called personal life. Generally these kind of sections become the hot bed for gossips with IPs and fanatics adding every relationship the boxer may have with somebody, irrespective of WP:N. Hence, to avoid such additions, I merge it as the main part of the biography. However Influences donot form a part of the main bio as it is subjective and changes from person to person. Hence IMO it is better to keep it outside the main bio and list it. Thanks for taking a look. Its a pity that I found images in Flickr for Vijender but they are not free :( --Legolas (talk2me) 12:11, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Make sure you Tell me when you've finished. Aaroncrick (talk) 12:18, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Im almost done. Just the lead and the influences needs to be extended. --Legolas (talk2me) 13:55, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
