A-League results archive edit

Hi Allied45, I notice you are working on a page named A-League results archive. I thought I would point out that results are already in the individual season articles - A-League 2005-06 and A-League 2006-07. Please feel free to add any extra results there, but do try to use the same format as is already used. It would be great if you could join us at Wikipedia:WikiProject A-League, where fellow A-League followers meet and discuss articles relating to the game. Regards, -- Chuq 12:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Yeah, this page was put up for deletion as a test page (you are welcome to make subpages of your userpage for testing stuff). Herostratus 07:07, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please do not add this page to the article namespace. The A-League 2005-06 and A-League 2006-07 articles make it redundant, and therefore it is not needed. Daniel.Bryant 09:08, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of Guinness World Records Books edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article List of Guinness World Records Books, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at Talk:List of Guinness World Records Books. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Features of Guinness World Records Books edit

An editor has nominated Features of Guinness World Records Books, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Features of Guinness World Records Books and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis edit

Hi, there is an extremely long and muddled discussion going on at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found on tennis player articles (i.e. this type of table), and I'm notifying you as you identified yourself as a member of the project. The dispute is over the "Tournament Name" column, with the options being to either use the "sponsored tournament name" - in other words, the name involving the sponsor, for example Internazionali BNL d'Italia - or the "non-sponsored tournament name" - in other words, Rome Masters. I appreciate that this conversation is very long and convoluted, so a brief summary can be found here, which is also where I request the discussion continues. Thanks, rst20xx (talk) 23:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Geelong Football Club season 2009 edit

A tag has been placed on Geelong Football Club season 2009 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Beano (talk) 05:46, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jack Watts (Australian footballer) edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jack Watts (Australian footballer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:ATHLETE as he has not played a first team game with a professional club

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. A potential solution to the "doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE" issue edit

G'day Mr 45, I've just gone through another AFD for an ex-Freo player that never played league, and managed to avoid deletion by merging it into the List of Fremantle Football Club players. I'm now duplicating that approach into the "currently listed players yet to debut" sections as well. This could be a good way to head of any further AFD or PROD issues on players who either were only drafted, but never played, and those who are currently listed but haven't played yet. I guess with Freo's limited history, it's fairly easy to get the data and fill in the tables. As the most frequent contributor to the Geelong list, could you look at doing something similar, maybe just for the currently listed players more than the delisted without a game players. Yeah close game that, got the heat rate up. Man, it could be worse, you could support the Colliwobbles! Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:08, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
They look pretty good again. A lot better than the Hawks, who really didn't deserve to win last year, but I suppose they played better on the day. Essendon has always been the most popular club here in Northern Tasmania, but Hawks are starting to take over!! Argh.. sick of them! Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:15, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not the greatest fan of Matthew Knights, and what he's doing with Ess right now. Yep everything's has suddenly become Hawthorn crazy. Probably because the majority of people believe we won't get our own team in the near future. Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:27, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

So do I, but I don't like our chances. I've been to an AFL game on the Gold Coast, and there was a crowd of just 7,000 which I though was pathetic for an greater area with such a huge population. Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:32, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
The thing is that Tassie will never get big crowds because of its population, but it will always be better than the Gold Coast, who don't seem to know anything about AFL and Hobartians will argue that they should host the games. Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:44, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
AFL only seem to care about the money. I think it's pathetic that they've only contributed $600,000 to York Park's redevelopment, but they have oodles of money to spend else where. Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:53, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Although they have indicated they may contribute to the small $5.5 mil development of the Northern Stand, which is very generous of them! O well, hopefully I see you around on WP AFL in the near future. I don't contribute as much as I should to AFL related articles, mainly on Tasmanian and Cricket ones, Cheers - Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 08:04, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Sorry Angela, but I didn't create a Facebook page for AFL Game Day. The page you are referring to is actually a community Facebook page so no one operates it. The info and picture on that page are from Wikipedia, which Facebook automatically links to its community pages. All I am responsible for is originally creating a Wikipedia article about your program, but have nothing to do with the picture or anything. It seems there may may be a bit of confusion in relation to this matter. Thanks, Allied45 (talk) 08:30, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Logie Awards of 1959 states "In 1959, no official ceremony took place..", and the linked 'Hugh O'Brien' was a Mayor of Boston and died in 1895! - 220.101 talk\Contribs 18:16, 1 May 2011 (UTC) Erroneous statement crossed out, new text underlined - 220.101 talk\Contribs 11:16, 2 May 2011 (UTC) Reply

File:Person placeholder.jpg edit

Hey, I was wondering if you'd mind me putting this image up for deletion, as it's a low-quality, orphaned JPEG placeholder of which several alternatives exist. It's still used on your article templates page, however, it can easily be replaced with one of the many alternatives that currently exist. --The Evil IP address (talk) 18:22, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Herald Sun Player of the Year edit

Hello. I'd like to see the Herald Sun Player of the Year page reviewed simply because the award of that title has only existed since 1991. Previous to that both The Herald and The Sun had separate player awards, and for differing time periods. Not being so hot with some of the technical formatting in pages like that HSPY one, I'm not sure if it possible to create two columns of information so that each paper's annual award winner/s can be listed next to each other up to the 1990 season. I don't live in Victoria, so cannot access the papers that readily. However, recently when in Melbourne for a brief visit, I was able for a couple of hours to use the microfilm at State Library of Victoria and found the following details. The Herald voting was in format of 3-2-1, but The Sun award was based on each player in every match receiving a score (between 1 and 8 ?) and a cumulative tally kept for season.

1977 - Herald winner - L Matthews (Hawthorn), The Herald, 29 August 1977
1977 - Sun winners - L Matthews (Hawthorn) & K Bartlett (Richmond), The Sun, 29 August 1977
1978 - Herald winner - G Wilson (Fitzroy), The Herald, 4 September 1978
1978 - Sun winner - G Wilson (Fitzroy), The Sun, 4 September 1978
1979 - Herald winner - G Wilson (Fitzroy), The Herald, 3 September 1979
1979 - Sun winner - G Dempsey (North Melb), The Sun, 3 September 1979

If yourself, or others associated with the project, could assist that would be appreciated. Believe I have some notes from other Melbourne visits in the past which include a handful of earlier Herald winners, so will try and locate and verify for the page. Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games edit

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Content removed edit

Dear Allied45:

The Wikimedia Foundation (“Wikimedia”) has taken down content that you posted here: List of Australian television ratings for 2012 because someone alleged that your post infringes on a copyright. You can see their communication here: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/DMCA_OZTAM

When someone makes a validly formulated notice of copyright infringement, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) requires Wikimedia to take the content down and to notify you that we have removed the content. This notice, by itself, does not mean that anyone is suing you. The take-down requestor might only be interested in removing the content from our site.

What Can You Do?

You are not obligated to take any action, but if you feel that your content does not infringe on any copyrights, you can contest the take-down request by submitting a ‘counter-notice’ to us. Before doing so, you should understand your legal position and you may wish to consult with an attorney. If you submit a counter-notice, the alleged copyright holder can stop us from restoring the content by suing you. Please note that Wikimedia will not be a party to any legal action that arises from you sending a counter-notice, and that Wikimedia is unable to provide you with legal advice.

Filing a Counter-Notice

If you choose to submit a counter notice, you must send a letter to legal wikimedia.org asking Wikimedia to restore your content. The letter must comply with DMCA standards and must contain the following:

  • A link to where the content was before we took it down;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe the content was taken down mistakenly;
  • Your name, address, and phone number;
  • If your address is in the United States, a statement that says “I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court in the district where my address is located, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; or if your address is outside the United States, a statement that says “I agree to accept service of process in any jurisdiction where I can be found”; and finally,
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Pursuant to the DMCA, Wikimedia must inform the alleged copyright holder that you sent us a counter-notice and give the alleged copyright holder a copy of the counter-notice. We will restore the content you posted within ten (10) to fourteen (14) business days, provided that the alleged copyright holder does not give notice of suit to restrain re-posting of the material.

Miscellaneous

As a matter of policy and under appropriate circumstances, the WMF will block the accounts of repeat infringers as provided under the DMCA.

If you would like to learn more about Wikimedia’s policies, please refer to the Wikimedia Terms of Use, available at http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Terms_of_use and the Wikimedia Legal Policies, available at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Legal/Legal_Policies. More information on DMCA compliance may also be found at:

See also WP:Office.

Wikimedia appreciates your support of Wikipedia and will be happy to assist you if you have any additional concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this notice.

Sincerely,
Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk)12:15, 13 February 2013 (UTC) for The Wikimedia Foundation Legal & Community Advocacy TeamReply

Hi,

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Invitation to the African Destubathon edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Geelong Football Club seasons edit

A tag has been placed on Template:Geelong Football Club seasons requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of Boots and All (Aussie Chomps) edit

The article Boots and All (Aussie Chomps) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet notability standards WP:BOOKCRIT

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
