No, I haven't heard from him but he must be OK, he is still posting on his blog. If I had to guess, I would say dealing with the petty frustrations and politics that infest this place has got too much, at least for a while. See here and here for some idea about what is going on. I was planning on giving him some space for a while. He may come back, he may not. I hope he does, even if just as a writer. I can't say I would blame him if he left for good, I must admit. Life is too short to deal with some of the crap that goes on here. -- Mattinbgn\talk 09:52, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gambhir edit

Long live Gambhir! YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 07:45, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great read! Gambhir and Sehwag must be a frightening proposition for opening bowlers. In the years to come him and Duminy could become the new Lara and Tendulkar. I thought Rohit Sharma could become the new Tendulkar but he seems to lost the plot a bit. Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 07:53, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
They should get Cheteshwar Pujara in there. Three triple centuries, Sharma just needs a breakthrough, he's got too much class to never make it. He averaged 80 in Ranji this season, before that his FC average was only 37. He doesn't seem to like slogging so much coming in late in ODIs YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 07:58, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd be tempted to cut and paste my blog posts into the Gambhir article (with opinionated bits cut out) as then I wouldn't have to chase up a lot of disparate newspaper articles to source them. Yeah, they do have a few supervisors to check if I posted nonsense on there, although in practice I'm not sure they bother...still I'd like to think I'm not as silly as all those other Indian journos who proclaim India to be the best after every win. YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 08:11, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

You should add the wickets for the batsmen and vice versa. Sehwag took 5 in Delhi and took 2/3 about three or four times last year. YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 08:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
And Steyn's 76 YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 08:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I was intending to do that, but well .. forgot! Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 08:46, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

City of Clarence edit

Hi there, just a quick heads up - I got your message, re the modifications I made to City of Clarence, and I certainly want the article to head in the direction of GA or even FA status...However, I am taking a temporary wiki-break atm, to work on another publishing project. I will get back to it asap, and will try to dig out some proper referencing whilst I am currently on my easter hols, if the opportunity arises. Robert Fleming (talk) 09:19, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Haha, because I'm sensible. But it's good to see the Bombers have a win as well. And it obviously annoys me as well! Cheers!, - Allied45 (talk) 07:02, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agreed! I'm so glad the cats got up and beat them good! - Allied45 (talk) 07:12, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Again I agree. Living in Melbourne, there's not many Cats supporters around, and suddenly there seems to be a million Hawks supporters. It makes me question the loyalty of their supporters when that happens. But I was worried going into the match about Collingwood, especially after last season, and I was getting extremely worried after the first quarter, luckily they did what the cats have been doing lately: missing the goals. I suppose the Hawks are becoming more popular in Tassie because of their affilation with the state. Would that be correct? But I must say I don't mind the bombers - except if they beat Geelong of course! - Allied45 (talk) 07:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I hope Tassie does get their own team. They deserve a team more than Gold Coast or West Sydney. - Allied45 (talk) 07:30, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh wow. That is pathetic. How big of a crowd does Tassie pull? That figure seems even worse because in Melbourne a low figure is considered to be around 25,000, and at Geelong its bad if the game doesnt sell out. Its hell trying to get a ticket to Skilled Stadium, they sell out months in advance. Tassie might in the distant future, but its all about money now. Its good to see you managed to gain a major sponsor even before Gold Coast did, and while half the current Victorian teams didn't have one! - Allied45 (talk) 07:41, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Gold Coast definitely do not know anything about AFL, nor do they care. It's rugby heartland, same as West Sydney. Tassie always has been a big supporter of Aussie rules, and continues to provide a reasonable supply of players considering its population. Everyone in Victoria (the people, media etc.) all agree that Tassie is a more worthy candidate for a team. - Allied45 (talk) 07:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Really only $600,000? That's pathetic. The Gold Coast is getting millions whilst existing clubs and stadiums are getting left behind financially. - Allied45 (talk) 07:56, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Wow! That is generous! Cheers, and see you around! - Allied45 (talk) 08:06, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Elton John Concert Image edit

Well the main issue is that the image is copyrighted on Flickr the other is that the permission never really stated the it could be used under and the permission stated "I give permission for this image to be used on the Aurora Stadium page on wikipedia" Nadine Ellis which points to Wikipedia use only. You will need to forward the email to OTRS or to get the Flickr uploader to change the copyright status to Creative Commons Attribution, Creative Commons Attribution Sharealike or Public Domain for it to be uploaded on Commons. Also when sourcing you should link to an image from Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/26379138@N07/2481539579/ and not http://www.flickr.com/photos/26379138@N07/2481539579/sizes/o/. Thylacinus edit

Hi, Aaroncrick/Archive 3. I'm a spanish wikipedist somehow involved in the article Thylacinus cynocephalus, which now is a FA at the spanish wikipedia. Recently I have been reading an issue of the spanish edition of National Geographic in which was shown a picture of five specimens of T. cynocephalus embryos and pouch youngs. All them belong to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Obviously we can't use this picture in wikipedia. Well, I know its pretty illusourious of me, but I wonder myself If you could take the pictures in the museum and upload them to wikimedia commons. It'll be so great... If you could, let me know, please. Also I shall be grateful if you could answer me at my userpage at the spanish wikipedia: Gustavocarra. Thanks in advance: --Gustavocarra (talk) 09:41, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Silly Hilditch.... again edit

Picking Brett Lee for T20 WC with no match form. Lee is not going to get a game when he gets back to the IPL....Punjab have no local batsmen (or won't use them ie Srivastava and Kaul), so they can only have one import bowler (Y Abdulla unless they want to drop him for Lee) ....unless they want to drop Katich or Jayawardene for Lee and then possibly drop Sreesanth or Vikramjeet Malik for some Indian batsman they won't trust to bat above Chawla.... so looks like Hilditch hasn't taken into account the fact that Lee might be on the bench..... Then he will have about one FC game before the Ashes when his Test average in England is 45+. Silly. If he was serious he would have gone to county cricket like Hughes. Sydney edit

Re the climate graphs, I initially thought you were removing the table of figures which I think is a bit excessive and dominating for the Sydney article - but I'm happy to be advised otherwise. Perhaps it is best for something like Climate of Sydney. As for the photos, there are sensitivities about what photos get put into Sydney related articles. Photographers tend to strongly favour insertion (and worse, retention) of their own work. Can make it difficult. Perhaps you can identify others for removal. Re your removal of the landscape, the only thing that pic had that others didn't was the Harbour Bridge and it is a super high quality picture (compared to many others there) but on balance, removal was probably warranted. --Merbabu (talk) 08:24, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree - no need for both a chart and graph. No problems there. It was a further question as to whether the article needed all that info in the table. It's pretty big! But, in my experience, it's hard to argue we have too much info rather than too little info. lol --Merbabu (talk) 08:33, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm - re your commons photo suggestions, I'm not actually advocating adding photos. Like climate data, there seems to be an excess already! Rather, i musing about how it would be nice to have a lead pic that had CBD, opera house, and bridge all in one. I'm happy with the article as it is until that perfect pic is available to be substituted rather than added in. nice to see some rational big picture thinkers on the article. cheers--Merbabu (talk) 08:37, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hmmmm - there isn't a Climate of SYdney article. All info in theory has a place in wikipedia. IT just needs to be at the right level (see my discussions at Talk:Indonesia today). The suntimes would certainly go into such a lower level article. I would say keep until a climate article is created, then that whole section can be trimmed down. --Merbabu (talk) 08:44, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
