Hello, indeed it is me, Lisa. Sterry must be Sue, yes? Yeah, I was a bit scared off by being pounced on, because although I respect their importance, I still don't understand some of the rules and at the moment don't have time to invest in finding out more. (How do you do that little contents box on the side, eh?) But I love Wikipedia. I love the way we can quickly fix something that's not quite right or just a little bit out of date, and I am rapt that we can dive in and assert our own little bit of space for AustLit in the global world. Who else is contributing? Not being an academic, I also worry a bit that I'm overstepping the mark and should leave it to experts... LisaANZLitLovers (talk) 13:03, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Tonight I stumbled upon some pages about Melbourne which included a category for culture, which had no reference to Melbourne as a City of Literature and nothing about its books-and-reading culture. So I have created a page about the libraries and will see what I can do about a City of Literature page, though I am not really qualified to do it... Libraries in Melbourne

Hi Lisa, Welcome (back?) to Wikipedia. I came across your edits to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne page and read about your problem on your user page. I think you may be having difficulty in understanding the structure of Wikipedia - been there, done that. Categories are collections of "articles" on a particular subject, see Help:Category. You have created a "Category" when you need to create an "Article", which will then be linked to a Category. Library categories already exist on Wikipedia, see Category:Libraries in Australia which contains the article State Library of Victoria and Category:Public libraries in Australia which has the article Yarra Plenty Regional Library, Victoria, Australia. I have re-created your article at Libraries in Melbourne and placed it in Category:Libraries in Australia. My knowledge of the workings of Wikipedia are limited but I will help where I can. Thank you, Cuddy! I'll be more careful if I make a page again:) The only thing is, how can the page also be linked to the Project Melbourne Culture category? I added the Libraries page because there's no mention of Melbourne as a City of Literature or its books-and-reading culture on the Melbourne Culture page. This is an important aspect of Melbourne's culture, and the Project Melbourne page makes it looks as if all we are interested in is sport, especially football. I had some vague plans to develop the page with info about Melbourne-based authors and other things that are going to come into being as our City of Literature status kicks into gear during the course of this year. They've only just appointed the head honcho of it but there are big plans, which should really be included in any Melbourne Culture page, yeah? I've added the libraries article to the Category:Melbourne culture. After looking at the Culture of Melbourne article, which is sadly lacking in any information at all on books and literature, you may like to considert adding a new section to this page. Some help

Yes, it's Sue. I'm glad you are giving it a go again. All of us here have got "punched" at some stage or another - there are times I've sat here at my computer and felt gobsmacked at something someone has "done" to me or to an article I've been working on but I figure that there's a lot to do here and if I stay calm, rational and polite I'll be ok - oh, and if I just step away when the others aren't rational!

The other thing I do a lot when I'm stuck is find other articles (that are good), click on the Edit this page tab and just look at the way the formatting is done. I'm intrigued to discover today that the Melbourne page is locked for editing because of controversy. Wow! Is it Sydneysiders disputing our claim to be the sporting and cultural capital of Australia LOL? Looks like one of those to-ing and fro-ing wars where people get hot under the collar about some issue. Looks like one of them is about photos but I can't be bothered reading all the stuff!
