In order to add a copyrighted image, such as you did to Jennifer Garner, you need to provide a detailed fair-use rationale for its use. In this case, though, you cannot use Image:13Goingon30.jpg. It was being used to depict Ms. Garner herself rather than to illustrate the movie in question. Sorry. --Yamla 22:14, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Category:Cities and towns in Italy edit

Hiya, I was working with Admin Vegaswikian to merge Category:Cities in Italy and Category:Towns in Italy, as you proposed on June 9 [1]. Now that those two have been merged though, there seem to be a lot of paired subcategories, such as Category:Cities in Abruzzo and Category:Towns in Abruzzo. Was it your intent that those subcategories be merged as well, or do you think that it is sufficient to just merge the parent category? --Elonka 18:22, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alright, thanks for the clarification. Approval has been given, so we can "make it so". Feel free to start combining, and I'll help as well as I can. --Elonka 05:12, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
As I was looking through the Italian Wikipedia, I see that more often there they do what you've been doing with the Sicilian towns, which is to call things Municipalities. Perhaps it's worth doing another "Category merge" proposal, to get rid of "Cities of" and "Towns of" categories altogether, and replace everything with "Municipalities of"? --Elonka 08:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hiya, I've moved the discussions on this to Category_talk:Cities and towns in Italy. A question has come up, so if you could pop in and participate, that would be great, thanks. --Elonka 01:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use images in userspace edit

Your contributions page looks nice. It's too bad but current fair use criteria WP:FUC say that fair-use images can't appear in userspace. It would be a good idea to replace the pictures with a list before one of the fair-use bots blows the whole section away. Rating edit

I notice you've been rating film articles and wanted to say thanks, but you must capitalize the first letter, ie Stub not stub. Otherwise it will stay in the unassessed category. --Supernumerary 17:52, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Succesfull? edit

The bot's been changing sucesfull to successfull (as in [2]). I'm pretty sure the correction should be to 'successful'. Unless this is a British/American spelling difference... - AKeen 00:44, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I thought it was a British/American thing, but it turns out it isn't. Both British and American English use 'successful' as you say. I've fixed the spelling in the bot. Thanks! CmdrObot 13:50, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:1995LittlePrincessDVD.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:1995LittlePrincessDVD.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Yuka music edit

Hello, Akeen,

I see you added this information to the article "Yuka": Yuka is a style of Cuban music descended from Congolese dance forms. It is considered a precursor to rumba.

Is it okay if I change this to "descended from Congolese music" instead of "descended from Congolese dance forms"? Dblomgren 00:31, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Akeen,

I'm still waiting for your answer or clarification. Thanks. --Dblomgren 00:42, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Minouportrait.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Minouportrait.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:AdrianGown.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AdrianGown.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Rossrs 09:41, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I made a mess of Salsoul, but I did add lots of stuff along the way edit

noticed your latin music credential, hope it extends to disco... I bulked up the Salsoul entry but my Wiki skills (especially at that point) suck. I would be so greatful if you could proof and "in line" the article. My hope is that my contributions outweigh my slop at any given time. Also, if you know anything about Morales and Munzibai a.k.a. M and M please bulk that one. I have a great source for the latter, an online interview that I read with religioius intensity and now cannot locate. Thank you Thank you Thank you--Tednor 18:53, 5 December 2006 (UTC) p.s. points that can be added are Caytronics (name of 8 track label preceding Salsoul), and the term "mericana".Reply

EXCELLENT cleanup job on Salsoul, and with such respect for my writing, THANK YOU!! (You ROCK as an editor!)--Tednor 06:09, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Requesting an Encore edit

Would my favorite editor be able to head over to Remix and, well, remix the article? It's getting messy, I did my best to make it factual and add this and that, but it's structure is suffering horribly. I also made note of three points (see the talk page for that article) that need to be in there, I couldn't bear to add them 'cause I'm on dial-up (not to mention tired of my own sloppiness!). Cheers mate and happy hellidays!--Tednor 20:53, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Women edit

I don't believe there was sufficient info about the film version to warrant a separate entry. The existing article included all the facts about the play and the movie. Your comment about half the info about the film being removed is puzzling, as its plot was discussed in the play section - repeating it was redundant. And why all the sub-headings in the play article? They unnecessarily break it up into small sections, giving it a very cluttered look. Furthermore, the photo is no longer relevant, since it doesn't pertain to the play. I'm curious as to why you felt you needed to make all the changes you did. Fair use rationale for Image:Intelligentsia logo.gif edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Intelligentsia logo.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Thank you. Rory096 01:59, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Intelligentsia logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Intelligentsia logo.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rory096 01:59, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chicago edit

Thanks for cleaning up Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea last week. I added some stuff on top of what you did and someone came behind me and tagged it as advert. What do you think? Also, we could use your input at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago/COTW. TonyTheTiger 15:56, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the problem is the paucity of text as opposed to the number of awards. I moved the awards to a separate section so they don't overtake the business background. I may post the CHICOTW template on each Chicago neighborhood talk page. Thanks for your feedback on the CHICOTW. I will probably change the CHICO when the day changes according to (UTC). You may want to nominate your suggestions after I do this for the Jan 3 week. Multiple editors will help the page look active and attract the interest of others possibly. Even though no one is making the type of improvements to the page I want, it has gotten many more edits (feedback) this week than usual. I think this may make it this time.
