Welcome! edit

Hello! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. You are welcome to edit anonymously; however, creating an account is free and has several benefits (for example, the ability to create pages, upload media and edit without one's IP address being visible to the public).

February 2021 edit

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Talk:Chaska High School, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. What are you doing? Don't mess with signatures on talk page posts. You did not write that, let alone write it today. Meters (talk) 22:21, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Actually, I did make that post (although I might have done it under a different IP?), and I noticed yesterday that I had forgotten to sign it. I was unaware that signing with the four squigglies set the date to day, so I thought I was fixing a mistake I made previously. Sorry! 73.88.58.38 (talk) 17:02, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see what happened. Someone else actually removed your original sig. If it ever happens again you can get the original signature from the page history (as I did). It's not a good idea to re-sign with a new time stamp since it makes it appear as if the comment was added after responses which were actually left as a result of the original post. Meters (talk) 21:42, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
You could also sign with ~~~ which will leave a sig but not timestamp, or use Template:Unsigned2 (or one of the other signature templates) to retroactively add a sig and timestamp. Meters (talk) 21:47, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks for your help! 73.88.58.38 (talk) 22:03, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
