Final warning edit

Look, unless you start moderating your tone, especially when this involves provoking your content opponents, the chances that you will be topic banned from the American politics topic area is high. Thanks and good luck. El_C 15:45, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Examples of my "tone" that need moderating seem to have been omitted. I'm not aware of instances where I provoked anyone, let alone "content opponents"--I'm not clear on the meaning of that concept. I thought we're all here to make Wikipedia better. The implication seems to be that there are people who are opposed to some of my content--I don't know what that content would be. Or am I supposedly opposed to some of their content? I don't recall removing or altering other people's content, other than occasional grammatical or spelling errors. Personally, I think a "Final warning" (when there were no previous warnings) that starts with "Look, " and then a threat of an extreme action is a tone that merits moderation--maybe make an effort to be friendly instead. I'm quite open to reason and pleasant explanation. 72.194.4.183 (talk) 02:47, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I just now read the post on EL_C's talk page from Springee about me, and everything Springee said about me is false. My posts were not intended to provoke or "tban dance" Lukan27...quite the opposite. They were not responses to Lukan27, but rather to other people who were engaging him in a way that was likely to provoke a response, and my comments were intended to warn them about that. (Actually, I think I may have responded to Lukan27 on the MTG talk page, but it was before I became aware of the tban.) No one, not Springee or El_C, reached out to me to discuss my intent before this "final warning" ... rather, a lack of good faith was simply assumed. -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 10:43, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
P.P.S. Looking at all of Springee's links, I see that one was me responding to a post from Lukan27 that attacked the good faith of other editors. I responded with "This is why you have been banned." -- that was not intended to be a provocation to violate his tban--how could it be when it wasn't about the topic of his tban at all--but I see that it can be viewed as provocative and nonproductive. I have removed that comment. -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 11:06, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
P.P.S. I see that Springee appended a comment next to my vote saying that I am SPA and have made few or no other edits outside of this topic. Aside from being a textbook ad hominem that attempts to invalidate the reasons for my vote by attacking me rather than addressing my reasons, it's a blatant lie. I made comments about MTG and "conspiracy theorist" on Feb 1 but none of my previous hundreds of edits were on that topic, and I have made edits on many other topics, spanning decades. (Some of those were of course from other IP addresses and while logged in, which I rarely do these days--I don't live on Wikipedia like so many editors do. I appreciate and make use of their efforts, but it's not the life for me.) -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 11:06, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I came across this comment in re someone else's appeal of one of these extreme topic bans: "I recently consulted with El C about this kind of a restriction about user Sadko, and they struck me as someone who would not apply it lightly." -- that seems to be a misperception. -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 09:23, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey, sorry for the random advice, i know how we all loathe it... but still. One thing you need to be aware about is that civility is what almost matters most. You can advocate and pov push for horrible things, and as long as done civil, many would view it acceptable. Civil pov pushing, especially by the far right, is just a reality. And they will gladly provoke, obstruct and canvass their politcal bedfellows, to then run to admins to get you punished. Wikipedia is just a toxic hell hole in that regard, and everyone is fine with it. Anyway, sorry for intruding. Just seen you in my casual browsing of noticeboards. And good luck against the civil pov pushers. They want you to lose your cool, it is all just a toxic and massively annoying game of gotcha. Do what you will obviously, just be aware. Have a good one anyway and good luck. 85.16.42.166 (talk) 15:10, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm already aware of all that, but thanks. -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 01:47, 14 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

February 2021 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use talk pages for inappropriate discussion, as you did at Talk:Apropos of Nothing, you may be blocked from editing. Coretheapple (talk) 01:42, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Stop lying about me and threatening me ... my editing is not disruptive, and reverting other editors' contributions to talk pages is verboten. To quote your own link, "The basic rule, with exceptions outlined below, is to not edit or delete others' posts without their permission." I'm considering taking action based on your violation. -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 01:56, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
"The basic rule, with exceptions outlined below, is to not edit or delete others' posts without their permission." You are adding off-topic commentary to the article talk's page. I encourage you to fully read How to use article talk pages. I also suggest you refrain from making threats to other users. Οἶδα (talk) 02:59, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
I read it in full ... you violated it in numerous ways; the policy explicitly states that "disruptive editing" (which I deny) of talk pages should not be removed. And you're the one making threats: "you may be blocked from editing" ... all I did is say that I'm considering taking action--that's not a threat of any sort (notably, it applies to a past action, whereas all the examples of threats are warnings against future actions, which is exactly what you did). I do not find your comments and actions to be accurate, useful, or moral, so I will not respond to you again. -- 72.194.4.183 (talk) 03:41, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
