Notability of Preco

edit

A tag has been placed on Preco requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Smartse (talk) 14:10, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

April 2009

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Preco has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjudhpbrkby). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Proposed deletion of Preco

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Preco, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Preco do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Removal of deletion tags

edit

Hi, please do not remove the deletion tag from articles as you did to Preco. If you feel that the tag is unneccesary please enter into dialogue so that changes to the article can be made which could improve it and therefore avoid deletion. Preco was tagged for deletion as the article does not state why the company is notable. See WP:N for what counts as notable. As another editor stated at present the article is borderline spam/advertising. If you can provide suitable citations that show why Preco is notable then the article will not be deleted. You commented on an edit that this page is similar to other companies - if this is the case please provide examples so that these articles can also be edited accordingly. Please message me [1] if you have any other questions. Thanks Smartse (talk) 20:28, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, Preco is notable. I've improved the article by adding inline citations - a couple of the links were irrelevant so I moved them to the talk page. Wikipedia shouldn't be a list of articles concerning a company. I couldn't find any mention of the invention of the reverse-motion alarm in 1967 in any articles. Do you know where you got this information from?

Also I'm not sure if the patent link belongs on the page - it does mention the founder (although again I couldn't find any references in the links) but doesn't actually mention Preco. I agree that SonicWall isn't a great article - remember that wikipedia is a community and that if you don't like something you can try and do something about it. No one is right and no one is wrong! Apologies for the earlier misunderstanding. By the way please sign comments on talk pages with four of these ~ to leave a name and date tag like this Smartse (talk) 23:35, 14 April 2009 (UTC).
