March 2021 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Suhungmung have been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 12:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Borpatrogohain, you may be blocked from editing. Sungodtemple (talk) 13:02, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive editing edit

You have indulged in disruptive editing. Wikipedia can be very easily improved with reliable sources. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines if you want to make positive contribution to Wikipedia. If you do not adhere to these rules and policies, then you will be reported. Some of the basic disruptive editing that you have done is removing reliable sources and cited texts and inserting Facebook links to support your claims. Question for administrator edit

<Dear admin, I am a new editor here, a wiki admin with a username Chaipau has not given me proper warning that Facebook is not a reliable source. I might have unintentionally went against Wikipedia policies. I was just trying to contribute. Also, I do not how to mention him. I have added a reliable source. The pages [Suhungmung] and [Borpatrogohain] has been vandalised a few months back and the one who did it was blocked. So, I was trying to include facts from the original version. Instead of guiding me, the mentioned admin started reverting the one's I have edited.> 11Anonymous1122 (talk) 14:30, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

You were pointed to WP:RS and WP:PG ([1]). The reliable sources link has a section on WP:UG which clearly mentions: Examples of unacceptable user-generated sites are Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Reddit, IMDb, Ancestry.com, Find a Grave, and ODMP.. It is obvious you did not read even when it was pointed to you. Your initial message to me [2] has this: Stop manipulating Ahom History related pages otherwise I will make sure this doesn't get unnoticed by the descendants. which sounded like a threat. I have chosen to ignore this for the time being, but I shall bring it up at the appropriate time. Please note that ignorance is not an excuse. Chaipau (talk) 15:15, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Why don't you show them the lasr source I provided? I am a new editor here and so I am learning from my mistakes. And talking about the initial message I wrote, you have been very unresponsive. Instead of pointing out the mistakes you were reverting it unlike one of the admin who addressed that Facebook is not a reliable source. You directly held a discussion on that. Just after the mentioned admin addressed that I corrected it and inserted a pdf of a book where it is clearly mentioned that the facts which I have mentioned aren't incorrect. I was just trying to contribute but you were continuously deleting it. I tried to validate my facts. Also, how do you know that I was threatening you? Have you heard the tone of my voice? Even I can raise a point here. 11Anonymous1122 (talk) 15:38, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

You have been a part of the Wikipedia community. So as an admin isn't it your duty to correct a new editor's mistakes rather than complaining about them? Also, you do not even respond to any of the messages properly. I have send you many messages till now. As an old admin, you must welcome new editors, correct them. And of course I am not aware what type of sources are allowed on Wikipedia and for a newbie that should be acceptable. The pages Suhungmung and Borpatrogohain are related, thus I have been trying to correct it. Also, have I done any act of vandalism besides that? No, I guess. 11Anonymous1122 (talk) 15:43, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

The book is not reliable source as I have stated here: [3]. Please find a reliable source. Since you say you are trying to learn, I have provided you with the resources and feedback that you need. Wikipedia is a collaborative work. Threats and other such tactics do not work, and may get you banned/blocked. Chaipau (talk) 15:57, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for that. I will try to improve 11Anonymous1122 (talk) 16:00, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

OK. I have restored the original texts. If you have issues, please discuss in the talk page. Chaipau (talk) 22:07, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I totally agree that Chaipau should have given you clearer explanation of what was considered to be wrong with your editing. Unfortunately there are far too many editors who prefer to just throw out threats to new editors than take the trouble to explain in a friendly manner what changes are needed and why. Also, Chaipau is not an administrator, and I am not happy that he has twice failed to explain that when you have mistakenly referred to him as "an admin". However, I also see that you, 11Anonymous1122, have made at least one rather silly threat to Chaipu. That is unacceptable. Threatening other editors may well lead to your being blocked from editing. Despite the poor start you have now been given some information about how your editing should be improved, with links to relevant policies and guidelines, so you can now try to comply with Wikipedia's requirements in your editing, and I hope you can now learn as you go along. Please feel welcome to contact me if you have any further questions. JBW (talk) 23:44, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
