Inter-university swimming championships in the United Kingdom are organised by British Universities & Colleges Sport (previously known as British Universities Sports Association).

The current format of competitions is three-fold - individual championships in both short course and long coure pools usually held in November and February respectively, and a team championship held in March or April.

In the 2007-8 academic year, The University of Bath were overall champions at the short course and team championships, and Loughborough University were overall champions at the long course championships.

The Inter Varsity Athletic Board (IVAB) was formed in 1953 to administer student international representative sport - This later became British Universities Sports Federation (BUSF), of which UAU and WIVAB were corporate members. UAU and WIVAB merged in 1969 and was then called 'UAU'. Polytechnics and Colleges later had their own bodies. It's not often clear which body was responsible for the University championships in this period, so here the known winners are listed for each year with the competition in brackets.
