University of Washington – United Greek Council

edit

The United Greek Council at the University of Washington was founded in 2002 as an umbrella organization dedicated to promoting unity among minority Greek-letter organizations.[1] Greek houses that are not located on Greek Row or non-members of the Interfraternity Council (IFC) or the National Panhellenic Council are often times neglected as traditional Greek houses. Meanwhile, houses that are exempt from these nationally recognized Greek councils, function as Registered Student Organizations (RSO) at the university while receiving funding and support from the school. To reduce the differences between the councils, several attempts have been made on both sides to encourage collaboration of Greek students at the University of Washington.[2]
