Design + Industry is Australia's largest industrial design and product engineering consultancy.[1] Whilst the average Australian industrial design consultancy has only 7 staff,[2] Design + Industry retains over 35 designers [3] in two cities, Sydney and Melbourne (Australia). They have played a prominent role in shaping the practice of industrial design in Australia.

Commonly known as "D+I", they are responsible for iconic Australian designs such as the Australian national cricket team's helmet [4], and the Ingenico 5100 pinpad. [5]

Founded by Murray Hunter [6] in 1987, the firm employs 30+ people across two offices -. They specialise in undertaking large and technically complex projects from concept through to production, covering a range of sectors such as medical, business, consumer, and environmental products.[7]. Work is undertaken for both offshore and domestic clients, in a 30:70 ratio.[8]

In 2009 Design + Industry announced a joint venture with leading leading United States design company Smart Design, to create product designs for the healthcare market.[9]

In 2010 Design + Industry achieved it's 100th award for design and engineering [10], winning four awards at the annual Australian International Design Awards. Other prominent awards include the IDSA Gold Award [11] and Medical Design Excellence Award (for the Intellect Advanced), and the IF Design Award. [12]
