My Wiki Life

edit

I am a fairly new contributor to Wikipedia. So far, I really haven't done much in the way of editing... mostly minor edits. I have also been watching the RC for vandalism. I have done my best to revert any vandalism I see, but thanks to the bots and admins, someone else usually gets it before I do. :P After a year patrolling RC on wikiHow, not having a rollback button here is really throwing me off. ;)

Unfortunately, my knowledge is pretty limited to TV shows, horses, Mac computers, and basic page designing... so I probably won't be overhauling any articles any time soon. But I'm very content with making minor edits here and there. :)

I've been a one-wiki person for a little over a year now, editing wikiHow only, but I decided to try broadening my horizons a little bit. Editing here is quite a bit different (more complicated) than editing wikiHow, but I've done a bit of it so far. I'll learn all the details eventually. ;) And as you can see, I have also joined several other wikis.

About Me

edit
  • I find it almost impossible to write a short user page. This may seem short, but if you saw my wikiHow user page before I (reluctantly) shortened it, you would catch a better glimpse of the real me ;)
  • I love to use smilies in text. I never use them in articles, and I try not to use them on user pages (though clearly, I'm not doing a very good job), but I use them all the time in comments. If it bothers you too much, let me know. I am really trying to break the habit.
  • I also tend to seperate thoughts with "..." and "--". Another habit I'm trying to break.
  • I like to try new things (like Wikipedia, for instance). I will do my best to learn how they work, but I don't always learn :P
  • In general, I do not like chat language. Sometimes, I use "BTW" (By the way), "WDYT?" (What do you think?), and IMO (in my opinion), as well as a few others, but you will never, ever catch me using "OMG", "TTYL", "G2G", etc. in conversation (okay, that time didn't count).

Milestones

edit
  • First edit: July 24, 2007 (To my user page)
  • First edit to an article: July 24, 2007 (Article was: Clarinet)

When I'm Not on The Computer

edit

No, despite contrary belief, I do not live at the computer ;)

Anyway, I do have some other interests. I enjoy...

  • Riding my bike. I haven't been doing that much lately, but it's a great way to get exercise.
  • Horseback riding. As my name points out, I ride western style. I can also do some bareback... You can read more about my riding on my wikiHow user page.
  • Drawing. My art skills could definitely use some work, but some of my sketches aren't too bad, anyway.
  • Reading. I am a bookworm, whose bedroom could pass for a library. I own over 300 horse books, as well as quite a few books on other subjects, and other fiction books. But try not to faint upon reading this next sentence... I do not read Harry Potter books. I don't know why, I've just never wanted to read one.
  • Collecting model horses. Any shelf space in my bedroom that's not already filled with books is filled with Breyer models. All model horses are "okay", but in my opinion, Breyer models are the best.
  • Playing the clarinet. I play in my school band. I'm not exactly great, and "average" may even be pushing it, but at least I don't squeak. Now tuning... that's a completely different story :P
  • Playing the piano. Now, a few things about my piano playing...
    • I am self taught on piano
    • I am a horrible piano teacher ;)
    • I usually have to play one melody with both hands. Any half-decent pianist would have a heart attack watching me play :P
    • My piano is woefully out of tune. When will I get it fixed? Who knows?...
    • If you are tone deaf and blind, so you can't see my hands, you may actually think I sound good ;)

Userboxes

edit

... I sure have a lot of them, huh? And when/if this page gets longer, I can add even more!

Obviously, I love userboxes (I have quite a few userboxes stating that I love userboxes, in fact). If you are interested in spending a while looking at colorful little boxes that aren't even yours, here are my wikiHow UIBs, and I also have some Userboxes on my Uncyclopedia user page.

I know how to create a UIB (User Info Box -- That's what we call them on wikiHow, anyway), and I have made a few on wikiHow, but I'm no expert. :P So, I guess I will just have to "steal" from the Master List for a while. ;)
