History
editIn 1933 the Chicago Tribune launched the Tribune-New York News Syndicate which was a precursor to the Tribune Media Services to provide news syndication that has expanded and now provides entertainment information and news globally to technology and media companies.
Services
editBeing a form of computer mediated communication the TMS services tend to lend themselves to the entertainment industries. But, they are also very heavily news-based, too. Through the subscription services they offer access to the following information services: ABC News, Garnnett News Services, Kiplinger Consumer News, Los Angeles Times World Report.
The TMS Content Delivery Site, part of Tribune Media Services (TMS) is a subscription content delivery service for newspapers and other media channels. Some of the content provided is comics, puzzles, games, editorial cartoons as well as feature content packages. The content delivery site also acts as a marketer for content from other sources, such as, U.S. News and World Report. The service has a partnership with the McClatchly Corporation providing multimedia content and info graphics worldwide.
TMS also offers products and services for niche markets through their TMP Specialty Products.
In March 2012 TMS entered an agreement with a company that utilizes Web 3.0 technology, Audible Magic. Audible Magic provides automated content recognition (ACR) technology and is being used in conjunction with TMS Live TViD. The service identifies live TV content using audio signals and synchronizes in real-time with TMS metadata to connect consumer mobile devices with programming on live TV.

editAccording to anonymous employees reviews TMS is a good place to start a career. Depending on which city you work out of there is a casual dress code and they offer a good work/life balance and are flexible enough to allow employees to work from home and are generous with their vacation time.
Some employees have had issues with management and say they can be disrespectful. Growth opportunities can be limited and according to some employees the salaries offered are low for the amount of work.
Criticism
editCritics say that while TMS is a respected service provider there can be errors in reporting: 05/20/1995 Orlando Sentinel incorrect stock prices of Disney and Goodyear 08/17/1995 Orlando Sentinel commodities future tables incorrect 08/02/2003 Orlando Sentinel inappropriately has an article praising the attributes of Jonah Goldbergs wife 05/20/2012 New York Times publishing a Broom Hilda comic strip that inadvertently appeared to be making light of the shootings in Aurora, Colo
