Facebook edit

Facebook is a social networking service [1] that facilitates interaction amongst its users through a friends list, wall, pokes, statuses, events, photos, videos, messages, groups, the chat, and like button. [2] A Facebook profile requires users to provide their name, gender, date of birth, and email address. [2] Curated friends lists allow users to see updates from their contacts on the News Feed which appeared in 2006. [1]

Facebook was first launched in February 2004 as "TheFacebook.com" [1] by Mark Zuckerberg [3] as a means of connecting Harvard students. [1] Facebook now has over 500 million registered users [2] and is available for those over thirteen years of age with an email address. [1]
