Public Online Lectures:

edit

I think the best thing to research about what do you want is the Internet, it's simply the global search, it's easy to find anything, in literature and history, medicine, philosophy and science, various areas and so on And right now with the high technology that provides wide range of the internet accessibility everyone can use the internet, as long as he/she has internet access and computer or smartphone, As well as the internet support the self-learners.

Try to make short and clear sentences. Don't use "as well" too often. Usually "and" is good enough.
Keep your style very simple.

Communications Styles:

edit

Assertion is a style of communication.

We all have learned different styles of communication as we came from different background and have diverse life styles, cultures. So often our environment effect us and effect our behaviors as well as it demonstrates challenges in our personal life. Therefore we should learn to be more flexible and teachable as well as that will enable us to go forward for better life and future, education.

Assertion: "standing up for personal rights and human rights and expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs in direct, honest, and appropriate ways that do not violate another person's rights". (Defined by a British dictionary) The aim of assertion is communication; with mutual respect,

One of the most challenges thing is to accept the others as they are, it doesn't matter which background or religious, color. To simply show them that you care and treat them as human being. Today I want to tell you that sometimes our act define us as well, the Humanitarian ethics moral does matter and make huge difference, as we say: action speaks louder than words.

TAKING LECTURE NOTES:

edit

I. There are many reasons for taking lecture notes and here below are some few of them:

A. Taking notes for yourself sometimes force you to listen carefully as well as it gives you a better understanding.

B. When you review the lectures, the notes provides a gauge to what the most important things in the text.

C. Personal notes usually easier to remember than the text itself.

D. Some students write down the important points which helps them to remember the text before even they study it deeply.

NOTE MAKING:

edit

One of the most important study skills is to learn to write down notes which will effectively help you to improve your study and work, that will enable you to remember easily the information.

The students sometimes deceive themselves by wrongly thinking that they understand everything taught in the class therefore they won't forget it, this is deadly wrong, because it's just has a temporarily memory, so I encourage you to write down your notes.

As you write down your notes, you will develop the skill of selecting the important points and discarding unimportant information .

The secret of developing that skill is the practice. You should check your results constantly. Strive to improve your skills.

Notes will enable you to keep the important facts and data as well as to develop an accurate means of arranging necessary information.

Here are some hints on note making.

edit

Write down the main points, concentrate on the major essential fundamentation topics, be alert and attentive to the words between the lines.

2- Notes should consist of key words or very short sentences.

3- Take notes accurately: You should use your own words in taking the notes with considering not to change the meaning, try to quote correctly directly from the author.

This is a good summary of unit #7. Thank you!
You should "brush up" your style a bit. Your way of creating sentences still reminds of Arabic conversation
style. English prefers short sentences. I grade with B=80.

USS #3 Learning style

edit

We have different educational background as well as different learning styles. The question is: How can we develop our learning style? Of course everyone have a special way to learn with her/his own touch. And now we have open world with high technology that offer different suitable and effective programs for everybody.

There are many ways to demonstrate intellectual ability.

edit

Each learner has a favorite methods of learning. The good thing is that we have diversity of the teaching methods especially through the internet. Knowing and understanding learning style helps you to learn more effectively and more positively. Learning individually is better especially when we have ideas or subjects that presented in a suitable format for us as students "the receivers". Suitable for our mindset, age and the situations.

The educational environment.

edit

In fact of the matter we have to think of all the educational environment aspects as the learning style is part of it. Each Educational environment has advantage and disadvantage. So we have somehow to figure out the main problems and search about solution in order to change the weakness to strengths, and develop the learning style accurately unerringly.

USS5 Time Management

edit

One of the most important goals of the time management is to help yourself to become aware of how you can use your time ideally. How can you make plans and daily schedule? In order to don't waste anytime. That will give you the capacity to exploit your time in the best possible way. How do you spend your time each day? In order to make good plans for using your time every single day.

Agenda

edit

Agenda will always remind you about your daily and weekly, monthly programs. So by updating it, you will be well organized.

Strategies of using the time:

edit
  • Develop criteria for adjusting your schedule.
  • The Management of your time is an important thing to achieve your goals and to be successful.
  • It's one of the main required condition for a successful life or business.

When I have my own schedule set with all the detailed plans, steps, organized, for sure I will do my work much more effective without wasting time. And when I have any changes or exchanging some thing I should add it immediately to my schedule, that I won't forget it. For me personally I love to see always my schedule organized and have all the details. I hope that everybody will be able to use his time the best possible way. Because simply time is life.

How is my personal day looks like?

edit

I start my day at 07:00 AM The first thing that I do is the prayers time, and than I go to the bathroom directly to wash my face and to do all my needs. And than I go back to my room to read my Bible, and do some exercise in 15 mins. And than I have my little tea while I read my daily schedule. That I will be able to start my day with knowing fully about what I have to do. Than I start my day as usual. I have my notebook I add anything new to it. When I'm back to my home I have good meal that my mother prepared. I just love her foods. lol :) Than I open my computer to study and check my mails. Finally I take my shower and wear my special clothes for sleeping after a long day. And pray with all my family and go to the bed to sleep. Every day is different because I have different programs everyday.
Thanks --Timothy Mina (talk) 02:47, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

USS #6 What do you think about cheating?

edit
  1. Cheating is one of the worst things that can happen with the students.
  2. I think to get used to cheating is destroying your knowledge and mindset.
  3. In the end they cheat themselves because they stop to develop their own potential.
  4. So by letting someone else to do their home-works,

and even it might feels easier but the whole thing is one big fake.

Development.

edit

In fact of the matter they don't really develop their knowledge about what they actually study. Their presentation of knowledge will be just an exam of their qualification, and that will displays their skillful and education level. If they are not really qualified, they will be in an embarrassing situation. Their faculty will be in a bad light. Nobody would like that. Modern higher education cares about the development of the students, and the reflection of the reputation.
Regard to just get a good grade in exams is not the most important thing. Rather producing creative thinkers who will be able to challenge the labor market. Competing successfully in the labor market will make the name of the educational institution well-known all over. Students of such a school will easily find work in a good position.

Let me to put it in one sentence: A student must be honest to himself, to go ahead and develop his potential for real success.

Homework Module #08 Reading skills.

edit

Reading with understanding helps you to develop your thoughts and ideas. Concentrating and adapt to the prevailing level of light and become able to see clearly the text as it is. All these methods helps you to clarify what you read and even get the hints of it.

To read finding and evaluating material, to read materials of relevant, to make your reading more effective. For active reading you should be fully focus on the task without distraction in order to take good notes as well as good advantage of it. You should read them More objective. Reading and considering relevance, validity and objectivity.to be better in reading to read carefully what you read. That all suppose to improve your understanding about what you read. And right now We have different topics in reading that some people have an ability to read what's written down between the lines. It's very interesting.

Taking your notes:

edit

Making well organized notes will definitely save you time, consolidates your self-learning. It's always good to take some important points.

Snapshot on the highlights points:

edit

Organize your notes – use notebooks, folders and your computer or your agenda. That is all helping you when you like to return to something in the past you can easily back to it and review all the information. I think reading is an important tool to develop your thinking toward better future which is making your mind growing in the knowledge.

Active reading:

edit

Underline or highlight the key words and phrases of the text as you read. So Whenever you return to the text to take notes, or to research an assignment question, you can easily see which points you identified as important at the first reading. Be selective, as too much highlighting on a page won't help you.

Make annotations in the margin to summaries points, raise questions, and challenge what you’ve read, jot down examples and so on. You can do this in books or e-texts. This takes more thought than highlighting, so you'll probably remember the content better. Read critically by asking questions of the text. Who wrote it? When? Who is the intended audience? Does it link with other material you've studied in the course? Why do you think it was written? Is it an excerpt from a longer piece of text? Why? How? where? Use index cards and add points to them as you read. You can use them to cross reference parts of the course, to collect examples, or to keep track of course themes. Try using sticky notes if you don't want to mark the text. Jot brief notes on one and add it to the page, partly sticking out so you can identify the page. Test yourself by reading for half an hour, putting the text away and jotting down the key points from memory. Go back to the text to fill in gaps.

To take notes

edit

Taking notes during a study session is a form of active study – it helps you to keep focused and also provides a record of what was said or you what you read. You are more likely to remember material you have thought about and made notes on than material you have read passively.

Using abbreviations

edit

When you make quick notes, it helps if you can use a shorthand way of writing things down, and most students adopt their own set of familiar abbreviations.
