Re:Ruffian edit

Hmm, I recognize this character. I would say redirect it to List of minor Star Fox characters and maybe adding its info to the list instead of VFD'ing it, simply because this character probably has the same amount of importance as Caiman, and Caiman is in the list. I'll see if I can dig up any more info for him, maybe a picture too. If it can't be expanded, you can always remove it from the list and keep the redirect. Jaxl | talk 12:59, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

Hey Thunderbrand, I noticed your great work on videogame related articles and I was wondering if you could help me with something. Ano... edit

Hello, Thunderbrand. I'm Takeru Yamamoto. I actually wanted to ask a question concerning something.

On July 31, 2005, I created a Wikipedia article for a game I enjoyed. The name of the game is Riviera: The Promised Land. I had a strange passion for that game, and since there wasn't already a Wikipedia article up for it, I decided to try and make my own impact on the fancommunity. I particularly enjoyed working on the article, even though it was incredible hard work. I had researched information by E-mailing the creators of the game, and gotten informaton on the article. And when I was done, I was proud of it. Ever since its creation, it has undergone many changes. There was an especially large argument concerning one of the character's ages, and I particularly enjoyed working on that one. It just goes to show you how alive that page was.

But just recently, I found the article to be completely devoid of any life whatsoever. Except for a new user, who apparently found the article empty because of a recent delete, and began to work off of that to create a new Wikipedia page. Just as I had done.

When looking through the history of the page in question, I found that a user named Thunderbrand had deleted the entire page on the 30th of August. That would be you, of course. For what reason you deleted what I had worked so hard to create, I'm not sure. But my point is, I worked hard on it. And I am distressed to see it be destroyed without knowing why.

Now I'm sure you have your reasons. And in this comment, I mean no disrespect. I'd really like you to tell me why the article was deleted, why my own work was destroyed. If you can spare me at least that much, I'd be somewhat satisfied.

At this point in time, I have restored my article. Possibly against your wishes. You may delete it at your discretion, but all the same, I'd like to know why it was deleted. Why a respectable administrator such as you decided to take what I put my sweat and blood into creating, and smash it into pieces.

That is all I have to say. I mean no disrespect, and I am not angry at you. I am merely distressed, and if you could do so much as to answer my question to ease my stress, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Riviera Page edit

Strange. Very strange. Why was it a tiny article like that? I definitely did not write that.

Well, I guess I should say sorry for being a little rude in my last post, and thanks a lot for replying. It makes me feel a lot less angry to know that you didn't do anything to my article. Besides, it's been kinda restored. Kinda.

Now I'd like to ask you a favor. Can you investigate what happened? Because, you know... it's really strange and all. How an article disappears like that. And, if at all possible, do you think you can restore it to a more recent backup than mine? I'd really, REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks a lot in advance for everything.

Yeah, you're probably right. I've just been trying to figure out a way to get more people involved with the selection process. But I agree that it is a bit silly. HL2 edit

Half-Life 2 is a large article so I'll try and help out a little here and there this week. It's a decent article, but there are some things that bother me. I'll list a few here.

  1. I thought the sections for Lost Coast, Aftermath and HL2 mods were so short that they should have been merged together into one good section on further development for the game. I went ahead and did this, although some of the information may need to be adjusted.
  2. The external links section needs to be cleaned up somewhat, IMO. What constitutes a "related resource"? If it's a 'resource' to this article, you may want to think of using it as a reference. Some of the 'articles' seem a little outdated. What's the point to the "Gamespot pre-release" article? Is it notable somehow almost a year since the game has been released? There are literally hundreds of articles on HL2, so what I'm saying is, why that one? I don't think the reviews section is necessary either considering you already reference an article with a number of reviews on it (just a thought)
  3. Images seem to be randomly placed. One was partially in the Steam section that had nothing to do with Steam. Half-Life 2 is a great game and we should have a number of screenshots, but they should be relevant to the section. Some of them may need to be moved around a bit. For my example I added an image of the Steam UI. Important: If you plan to do another FAC, you better place rationale for the images on the image pages along with a source etc. A lot of editors oppose on sight due to this; happened to me.
  4. Multiplayer section. The listing of maps is kind of absurd. I'd recommend something along the lines of Day of Defeat. It's kind of a nice visual aid as a list and it's more neat and organized.
  5. The plot section just seems off to me. I've yet to fully read it, but I don't think the article needs a section devoted to the HL backstory. You shouldn't look to HL2 to get a backstory on HL1. Leave that for HL1. You can say, "it picks up from" and a small sentence or two, but any references to HL1 or what happened between the games should be merged into the actual summary. I mentioned it in the past and I think you guys either disagreed or just didn't follow through, but regardless, I'll mention it again that I think the plot summary should be more prose-like and not a listing of the levels and what happened specifically in them. It's one thing for an article that lacks a "real story" level-to-level like Super Mario 64, but a story broken up by chapters would be better with a listing to the side of the levels and a more cohesive and flowing plot summary. (a biased choice, obviously but e.g. GoldenEye 007).

That's all I got off the top of my head :) I hope it helps or at least fuels some ideas for yourself to improve the article. K1Bond007 05:37, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi Thunderbrand. Just to say that I've put some pictures on my discussion page. Have a look and then add to the main HL2 page if you like them. --Plumbago 16:59, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
The rationale is a semi-new thing that a number of editors are essentially "forcing" other editors to do for FA Candidates otherwise they'll oppose flat out. IMHO, it's BS for most images, but it has been a guideline (I think anyway) for sometime, see Fair use rationale. I added something for the Steam image. Should be good enough. I don't think it needs another peer review. Might as well go straight for the FAC after another good read through, but I do suggest attempting to find a couple (2) more references before doing so. It is a pretty big page and should probably have more than 3 references. K1Bond007 03:38, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi. I don't seem to be having much luck with Imperial Glory on the GCOTw page, so I'm wondering if it is in any way legal to 'canvas' for votes on the talk pages of related games, like Rome:Total War, seeing as some people probably aren't aware that IG is up for GCOTW. Alias image edit

Lets just use the Season 1 DVD for now. I knew the image that was on there was a problem, but I failed to find an image to replace it. Instead of an image of the cast, what I'd rather have is the logo "Alias" that you see on the credits and on the box. Unfortunately, I don't have the DVDs anymore (they're my sister's) so I can't do a screenshot - which would be better for a source - I might be able to transfer an episode from my TiVo and do it that way though. The cast changes too much anyway and they haven't (probably due to Vaughn's 'death' and the yet to be introduced two new members of APO) released any Season 5 promotional material yet-images with the entire main cast. I don't care. If theres a good reason to delete, then go ahead and do so. The image was promotional so theres no problem with licensing - I would just have to add the rationale. Up to you. I hope by delete you mean placed on IFD. K1Bond007 18:54, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Re:SF series page cleanup edit

Hello Thunderbrand, I just got back from a trip and saw your message about the cleanup (sorry I wasn't around to help yesterday.) I see you've gotten it cleaned up nicely so far. Is there anything right now (besides getting the logos for SF and SF2) that you would like me to do? If so, I'd be happy to do it.

Also, I know its been suggested before by K1Bond007, but do you think the List of Star Fox planets and List of Star Fox locations could be merged? I personally think the result wouldn't be too long, but, I don't know, what do you think? Robert T | @ | C 22:14, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Okay, I'll see what I can do with the logos. I'll merge the pages when I have time, but if you want to do it yourself before then, go right ahead. Robert T | @ | C 22:21, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. I did find an SF2 logo, but the background wasn't white. Do you think I can get away with that? (Nice job with the merge, btw.) Robert T | @ | C 02:02, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, AfD that. That has to be bogus. Anyway, I'll upload the logo tomorrow. Robert T | @ | C 04:55, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Kameo Boxcover edit

It's nonsense a dispute like this, but this is happen: Talk:Kameo:_Elements_of_Power. You uploaded the current version of boxcover that I trying to keep in the article, but other member insist to replace for artcover. Thanks. --Mateusc 10:56, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Look at Perfect Dark Zero also.. I'm tired of discuss about it, before more than 6 months of WPCVG member need revert edits of a guy who ignore the Infobox norms. --Mateusc 12:16, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

The image in question is an official render of the box art. The other image is a lower quality shot of the packaging from a tilted perspective. Simply put, Kamo_cover.jpg is a more fitting image. It displays what consumers may see on store shelves (as it is the cover art, after all), and it has a far better fair use rationale than a product image lifted from Amazon.com. Mateusc and I have had a previous disagreement which I think has permanently prejudiced his judgement against me. He ruthlessly reverts any changes made in good faith and then accuses me of irresponsobility before I even have a chance to explain the reasons behind my edits. I'm sorry that this dispute has spilled onto your talk page. --anetode╔╝ 02:15, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
