I chose the name "The Great Honker" because of my dual interests in Ancient Egypt and waterfowl, particularly geese (also, it seems appropriate for discussion pages...). The Great Honker, by the way, was the primordial goose in Ancient Egyptian mythology that produced the first sound and paved the way for the creation of further life. My interests include ancient Greece, especially Athens, which is named after my favorite Greek goddess (Athena), Ancient Rome (I also know some Latin), Ancient Mesopotamia (especially Babylon), and as my username would suggest, Ancient Egypt, and, also as my username would suggest, geese. I am also very interested in the mythology of all the aforementioned civilizations, as well as somewhat interested in Viking mythology. Oh, and during the summer I do some philately.
For internet safety reasons, I won't reveal my real name but I will say that I live in the center of Davis, California (near Sacramento), with my 3 cats (Pippin, Orion, and Tiger), Tiger being the only male, two geese (Jacques Gousteau and Jeannette Peepin), one male and one female, two female ducks (Sunny and Mrs. Thompson), two female rabitts (Hess, short for Hestia and Kwan Yin, one male aquatic turtle (Huck, short for Huckleberry Finn), one female aquatic turtle named Hecate, and soon, two hens, as yet unnamed.
Some of my major contributions:
-I merged Isis in literature into the main Isis article and made the former redirect to the latter
-I wrote the section in the Ishtar article that recounts her descent to the underworld, and helped get the section in the Inanna article concerning her descent to the underworld cleaned up (you can read my postings on the talk page here).
-I suggested that the Babylonian gods' family tree be posted on its own page. You can read my comment on Jeandre's talk page.
