Description

edit

Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is the main antagonist of Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise. He first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), a platform game for the Sega Genesis. Eggman is a mad scientist who seeks to conquer the world and build his ideal paradise, Eggmanland (also known as Robotnikland). To accomplish his goal, Eggman traps the animal inhabitants of Sonic's world in Badniks, his brand of aggressive military robots, and seeks the Chaos Emeralds, seven emeralds with mystical powers. Sonic media portrays Eggman as selfish, egotistical, and narcissistic. He is characterized as a genius with an IQ who strives for attention and stubbornly refuses to accept defeat.

Sonic media typically focuses on Sonic's efforts to defeat Eggman. Some media treats Eggman as a menacing, legitimate threat, while other media portrays him as incompetent or a mere annoyance.[1]
