Outline
editWhat is required in order to perform a complete combustion?
edit- Large amount of air (oxygen) is required in order to perform complete combustion. [1]
What is the product of complete combustion?
edit- Carbon dioxide
- Water
- It releases energy in form of heat and light.
- Carbon dioxide that is released from this reaction is colorless and also odorless. However, if it is being released in a suffuciently-high concentrations it will have a strong acidic odor. [2]
What is the characteristic of complete combustion?
edit- If the fuel undergoes complete combustion, its characteristic is usually characterised by blue flame.
Problems associate with Complete combustion
edit- Global warming
- Global warming is caused by the increase amount of carbon dioxide and other air pollutants in the atmosphere which will absorb sunlight and solar radiation which has bounced back from the Earth's surface causing the average global temperature to increased. [3]
- Health problems
- Carbon dioxide gas will disturb our respiratory system if our respiratory system is being exposed to Carbon dioxide above or equal to 3 percent. Breathing rhythm accelerates, headaches sweating and bounding pulse are some of the symptoms that will occur. In addition, if the level of Carbon dioxide is more than or equal to 25 percent, death is possible to occur. [4]
- Ocean acidification
- Although the level of Carbon dioxide is increasing, the pH level of the ocean water is dropping and this leads to the acidification of the ocean. This can effect the behaviour of the marine animals and the coral reefs. [5]
