Irony
editThis is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
The irony is this: you want your client's page published on Wikipedia because of the Wiki's stellar reputation and wide reach. But if we allowed everyone who wanted to publish an article about their business to have one, it would seriously dilute Wikipedia's quality. Wikipedia would stop being a source of (pretty) reliable information and instead turn into yet another place where businesses try to get users' attention. The internet has no shortage of those kinds of websites (*ahem* HubPages *ahem*).
You should not want us to approve your article because you've begged or paid the right person. It is a good thing that strict standards are followed when deciding whether to approve a new article. Otherwise, Wikipedia would stop being a useful (free!) resource that everyone can (mostly) depend on.
