In his first band "Subriss" he toured Germany and neighboring countries for seven years and gained experience at over 1000 concerts. After a record deal with the label "Sing Deutsch" [2], the band split up because of different ideas about the future and musical differences.

He and his sister Jenna were signed by Sony BMG as the duo "Jenna & Ron" between 2005 and 2008. They won 6th place at Bundesvision Song Contest in 2007 and entered the official charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They played shows at "The Dome" and were the opening act for artists like "Tokio Hotel", "LaFee", "Silbermond" and many more. In 2007 they played themselves in the mobile phone photo soap "Mittendrin - Berlin rocks!", the predecessor of "Ninas Welt".

After the duo ended he worked in various jobs. For example did Ron shoot fashion videos, worked as stunt trainee, actor and cameraman and travelled around the world.

2009 he signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing and made himself a name as songwriter and music producer.

2011 he wrote the song She's got moves for Kevin Kayirangwa, who won the reality talent show Idool 2011. This Belgian TV program is part of Idol franchise American Idol. The song was Number 1 on the Flemish Charts for six weeks.

In 2018, he won the German Rock and Pop Award in two categories. Best German lyrics and best German music video under the artist name "Citizen Doé".

For the worldwide meme, inspired by the song "This is America" by the American musician and actor "Childish Gambino", he produced and sang the German contribution "This is Germany".

Between 2019 and 2020 Ron Dohanetz sang under a new pseudonym "Trent Drifter" at various international events in Korean (Hangul). After he uploaded four videos to Youtube at the end of 2018, singing K-Pop cover songs, accompanying them on guitar, the South Korean DJ Hwatu noticed him and organized concerts at all events revolving around cultural exchange between Asia and Europe. Mostly these were events in various embassies. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all further events were canceled from March 2020.

In 2020, he began working again as a songwriter and producer with the pseudonym "DRFTR", primarily for Asia.
