Careers & Education

I am a writer and academic specialising in Islam and Muslims in the West. I have a PhD in Politics, a Masters degree in Islamic Studies as well as a Bachelor of Arts (in Arabic & Islamic Studies), a Bachelor of Music as well as an A.Mus.A in violin. I have worked at both the University of Melbourne and Monash University as well as written for mainstream media in Australia.

Hobbies

I enjoy reading, writing, cross-stitch, cooking, scrap-booking, and mucking around on the computer.

Name

Sufisticated is a play on the words "Sufi" and "sophisticated". I am not a Sufi (no true Sufi would be so bold as to call themselves one) but I'm very interested in Sufism, particularly the Shadhili-Darqawi order.
