Hiddingh Hall Library In 1911 Hiddingh Hall Library became the University of Cape Town’s first purpose built Library. Today it is a branch library serving the Departments of Drama, History of Art and Fine Art. The physical collection comprises approximately 35 000 books, 1 500 videos, and current print journals. Facilities include PCs, Macs, wireless network, printers, photocopiers and scanners, a viewing room and access to UCT Libraries approximately 70 000 e-journals and 200 electronic research databases. The Hiddingh Hall funded by the bequest of Dr W. Hiddingh and was designed iby the architectural firm Baker and Kendall. The original plans can be found in the Baker Collection, in the University of Cape Town Libraries Manuscripts & Archives Collection.
