Mirus Futures is an online futures broker focused on implementing advanced technology, service, and support to a wide range of traders and money managers.

About

edit

Mirus Futures was founded in February 2004 by Pat Shaughnessy and Eliot Wickersheimer with the goal of providing futures traders with training, education, and support in the ever-changing electronic marketplace.

Initially focused on professional money managers and automated trading groups, Mirus is a full-service brokerage firm specializing in new technologies, networks and trading applications. With the help of overseas affiliates and institutional clients, Mirus serves traders world-wide. As the first firm to help launch the Zen-Fire network, Mirus supports traders using the NinjaTrader platform. Mirus provides full support to traders via phone, email, instant message, and remote desktop support.

Mirus Futures is a registered member of the National Futures Association (NFA) governed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

ZenFire

edit

Zen-Fire is the data engine that Mirus clients use for trading. It provides exchange connectivity and order routing.

The Data and Order Routing Engine is co-located with the exchanges and core Internet carriers at a data center in Chicago. The engine was built to support as much data as the exchanges can distribute and route orders in less than 100 milliseconds. Over 18 major Internet carriers are used to ensure network availability when individual Internet carriers fail.

ZenFire was named the 2010 & 2011 Data Feed of the Year in Big Mike's Best of Trading Awards.[1]

Education/Support

edit

Mirus provides weekly "trading education" webinars with industry experts to review topics such as Market Profile, Fibonacci, and Trading Psychology.[2]

Mirus provides a 24-hour emergency trade desk as well as live remote support. Their website also contains support documents on all of the platforms available for use.

Services

edit

Mirus runs a Managed Futures program with Dorman Trading.[3] Managed Futures are an asset class in their own right, separate from traditional investments such as stocks and bonds. The advantages of investing in managed futures within a well-balanced portfolio include reduced volatility, the ability to profit regardless of market direction, and global portfolio opportunities. The term managed futures describes an industry consisting of professional money managers known as commodity trading advisors (CTAs). These trading advisors manage client assets on a discretionary basis using global futures markets as an investment medium. Trading advisors take positions based on expected profit potential and balance this with expected risk.

Awards

edit

Mirus Futures was the recipient of the 2010 & 2011 Trade2Win Members’ Choice Silver Award for Best Futures Broker.[4][5]. In addition, Mirus was named Futures Broker of the Year in Big Mike's Best of Trading 2010 & 2011 Awards.[6]
