Pranav Adani is an Indian businessman known for his contributions to various verticals of the Adani Group. He is a member of the Governing Council at Ahmedabad Management Association and the National Council at Confederation of Indian Industry.[1][2][3]

He serves as the following at the Adani Group companies:

  • Chairman of the Board - Adani Logistics Limited
  • Director - Adani Port Infrastructure Private Limited
  • Member of the Board of Directors - Adani Mining Private Limited (2009-Present)

  • Executive Director - Adani Enterprises Limited

He serves as the Managing Director of the Agro, Oil & Gas, Coal Trading & Bunkering divisions at Adani Enterprises Limited as well.[4]

Early Life

Pranav is a graduate in Business Administration from the Boston University, USA. He is also an alumnus of the Owner/President Management Program of Harvard Business School, USA.[5]

Career

In 1999, Pranav started working for Adani Group headed by his uncle Gautam Adani.[6] He led a successful business venture with Singapore’s leading Agri business Group - Wilmar International Limited. The Adani Wilmar joint venture currently owns India’s prominent oil brand Fortune. The company hosts upwards of 450 manufacturing plants and a distribution network that spans across more than 50 countries including India, Indonesia and China.[7]

Pranav Adani became the Director of Agro at Adani Enterprises Ltd.[8] As Chairman of Adani Agri Logistics Ltd., Pranav also made investments in grain storage technology and agriculture logistics. This model is being considered by state and central governments for nation-wide adoption.

Pranav Adani is the Director of Adani Group’s Oil & Gas and City Gas Distribution vertical, Adani Welspun Joint Venture.[9]

On August 8, 2009, Pranav Adani became the Director of Adani Gas Ltd. Presently, he is the Chairman of Adani Gas Ltd., which is the largest private city gas distribution player in the country. He has implemented city gas distribution projects in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Faridabad, and Khurja. Pranav Adani also served as a Director of Mundra Power SEZ Limited, Kutch Power Generation Ltd. and Adani Power Dahej Limited till March 2011.[10]

He has ventures in the real estate industry in the cities of Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Goregaon. He is involved in building a 600-acre Ahmedabad township under Adani Real Estate Company. He also heads the global coal business of the Adani Group.[11] The project has upcoming extensions in Mumbai and Gurgaon. Under the leadership of Pranav, the Shantigram Township has a total of 6 projects:

  • La Marina
  • Water Lily
  • Elysium
  • The Meadows
  • Aangan[12]

On April 1, 2015, Pranav Adani was appointed as the Additional Director of Adani Enterprises. Pranav Adani serves as a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry's National Council on Agriculture and the CII's National Council on Fast Moving Consumer Goods.

In January 2018, he was the only industrialist to address the Bengal Global Business Summit alongside Mamata Banerjee. He stated that the Adani Wilmar Limited will invest ₹750 crores in the state.[13]

Personal Life

Pranav is married to the daughter of the Managing Director of Rotomac, Vikram Kothari.[14]

Awards & Recognition

In 2018, Pranav Adani received the Asia’s Greatest Leader (2017) title by Asia One, reviewed by PWC. The title was presented at Asia’s Greatest Brands & Leaders Event in Singapore.[15]

Philanthropy/CSR

Pranav introduced the #GarvHai initiative to promote sports and support athletes in India for international tournaments including the Rio Olympics. A few candidates across India were selected and assisted in the selection process of the pertaining competitions. The campaign supported Indian shot-putter, the then Asia’s best, in 2015 for Asian Championships in China. The list included others like Khushbir Kaur and Shiva Thapa and more.

In 2017, the Adani introduced the Pro kabaddi team Fortune Giants through Adani Wilmar. Adani chose to support kabaddi instead of a Cricket to present opportunities to new sportspersons. In the same year, Pranav announced a fourfold increase in the prize money to ₹8 crores from the same season. The Meadows, a part of the Shantigram, houses a football field in the centre lit by flood lights to promote football.[16][17][18][19]

In 2017, Adani pioneered the first Marathon in Ahmedabad which is dedicated to the Indian Armed Forces. On 26th November around 8000 people participated in the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon. It consisted of two categories: Full (10 KMs) and Half (5 KMs). The runners included about 1000 members from the Indian Army, Air Force and the Navy. The marathon collected ₹25 Lakh and the company donated another ₹25 lakhs to present a total of ₹50 Lakh to the Armed Forces of India.[20]
