Shvetha Jaishankar (Born 11 December 1978) is an Indian model, entrepreneur, beauty pageant titleholder and writer. She won the Femina Miss India International in 1998 and later was crowned as the second runner up at Miss International 1998 held in Tokyo.[6] She is the author of Gorgeous: Eat Well Look Great published by HarperCollins in 2016. [1]

Shvetha is also a Trustee at ‘A lot of dreams, an NGO [2] that supports girls higher education.

Shvetha Jaishankar was born in Chennai on 11 December 1978. Shvetha did her schooling from Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Church Park and DAV School and later graduated from Ethiraj College for Women (B.A Corporate) in 1999. Shvetha pursued her MBA in 2004 from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. [3] Both her parents have built a pharmaceutical business. Her mother, Rajam Jaishankar is a doctor.

Shvetha takes her name from the Tanjore painting of goddess Saraswati, which is the pride of her mother's collection at home. Art, music and dance were integral and influential parts of her childhood. [4]

Shvetha tied the knot with Chennai based businessman Raghu Kailas, the couple have two daughters. [5]

Career

Shvetha started her career as a model and went on to win Femina Miss India International 1998 and later was crowned as the second runner up at Miss International 1998 held in Tokyo.[6] In 2004, she co-founded Globosport, India's premier sports and entertainment agency. She was also the vice-president at Reliance Industries Limited, where she handled the strategic and operational aspirations of the group's sports ventures that included the cricket team Mumbai Indians.




Modelling

Shvetha has walked the ramp for India’s top fashion designers and appeared on shows for National Geographic, MTV and Star TV. She was a guest presenter at the Nat Geo Spell Bee [7]2009. She has appeared in TV commercials for Dabur Vatika shampoo, Nestle Munch [8], Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, Asian Paints and Denim Soap [9].


She has also appeared on a famous talk show 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal'[10] Shvetha appeared on the cover page of Femina (December 1999 issue [11]) and also featured in Vogue Gallery [12].


Author and Writer

Shvetha’s debut book – Gorgeous, published by HarperCollins in 2016 [13] is a collection of recipes and conversations with India's top models and actors like Malaika Arora Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Milind Soman, Trisha Krishnan, Ujjwala Raut and several others. The book addresses the importance of fitness, well-being and nutritious food. There are around 100 recipes in the book that also features Shvetha's own recipes and anecdotes from her life [14] [15] .



She turned a columnist while writing for 'The Hindu', a leading national newspaper and has written several features for the 'The Girls Guide' column. [16] [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23]


Editor of 20/20 - IPL magazine

Shvetha Jaishankar started her writing career with 20/20, the official magazine of the Indian Premier League [24], India’s best known sporting event. She took on the role of an editor for two issues of the magazine that was published by the Tata company. The magazine contained exclusive photographs, interviews of top IPL players and a sneak peak into the events that are organised around the IPL extravaganza. [25]

She has also addressed the students of Pearl Academy of Fashion during their Induction.[26]
