Sangram Sahoo (born 2 April 2 1997) an activist, field biologist, environmentalist, and Research Scholar from India[1]. His area of expertise is conservation and biodiversity, and he worked tirelessly to save Odisha's indigenous and endangered plant species[2][3]. Also, his research in Northern Odisha, India, focused on vegetation ecology [4]both mangrove and tropical forest[5][6].

At the 12th Convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University[7][8], which was graced by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India[9], he was awarded the gold medalist for wildlife and biodiversity conservation[10][11][12].

Early life and education

Sangram Sahoo was born in Khudra District. Her father is a farmer who has a passion for nature, while her mother worked as an AWWs employee. He attended Nayahat High School in Puri District, completed his undergraduate studies in Botany at Udaynath Autonomous College of Sciences and Technology in Cuttack, and pursued his postgraduate studies at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University[13] [14][15]in Baripada and Currently engaged as a Research Scholar at the Birbal Sahani Institute of Palaeosciences, which is affiliated with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR)[5].

Conservation career

Sahoo began his work as a researcher at the Regional Plant Resource Centre[3], where he dedicated a lifetime to investigating the conservation of RET Listed plants in Odisha and monitoring track building in the Eastern Ghats of Odisha[3]. He was a wildlife conservationist and a specialist in habitat conservation and wildlife crime[16].
