Murudeshwara is a town located in Bhatkal taluk of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India. Murudeshwara is another name of the Hindu god Shiva. It is famous for the world's second-tallest Shiva statue. The town lies on the Kanara coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple. The nearest airport is the Mangalore International Airport situated 160 kilometres (99 mi) to the south of the town.[1] Murudeshwar has railway station on Konkan railway route.[2]
