editTiktok was first released in 2016 and became one of the most popular social media apps allowing users to post short video content. It is mainly mobile-based. In 2016 it was launched under the name Musical.ly, and its main focus was on lip-syncing content. Then after the acquisition of the app by ByteDance in 2018, the name of the app was changed to TikTok. As of current, users can upload up to ten-minute long videos. It is now a platform that houses all different types of content which is personalized to each viewer based on previously liked videos. TikTok now offers live-streaming with users that have larger fan bases. The reason why TikTok risen to popularity instantly is because of its eye catching platform design, according to[1] Forbes magazine different TikTok creators have learned the algorithm and capitalize it for monetary gains. Furthermore it is said that many creators use TikTok as a starting point to gain more followers on their other forms of social media platforms. In this case Tiktok serves as a foundation for the creator's business, once that creator is able to build a certain amount of following they can begin their businesses, charge for personal coaching, or even starting a streaming career etc.
Many will critic and say that Tiktok is for extroverts and people who are naturally social and outgoing, however that is actually further away from the truth. The app has allowed shy people to come out of their shells, it has created new careers and allowed younger audiences to showcase talents when algorithms are not in their favor. One of the ways that Tiktok do this is with their AI algorithms, according to[2] Marcus Ave the AI have the ability to optimize both content and recommendations. As your follower count grows your business niche will be shaped by your audience as well, there are different niches such as, fitness, cars, music, shopify or even movie accounts. Creators recently began to attach shop links to their videos and if anyone was to phurchase them it would generate that creator commission. Overall TikTok is a fantastic social media marketing platform, it can expand into other social media platforms such as facebook, instagram and snapchat.
