Timmons and Company
editTimmons and Company, founded in 1975, is a lobbying and consulting firm who represent private-sector clients whose futures frequently depend on activities sometimes thousands of miles away. The firm works daily with Congress and Senior executive branch officials to represent both Republican and Democratic party organizations who cannot participate in Congressional hearings or briefings. Timmons and Company also provides strategic advice and council in areas such as political advances and changes in Washington procedures and protocol. http://www.timmonsandco.com/about.asp
History
editTimmons and Company was founded by Bill Timmons Sr. (considered the father of the modern, scripted convention) with Tom Korologos (top official for the Coalition Provisional Authority for Iraq) in 1975. The firm started with ten clients and charged a $100,000 annual fee. Today their clients have more than doubled and their retainer is now roughly $360,000. Timmons Sr. has since retired from the convention business, although he will still advise Larry Harlow, the new head of the firm, and his staff. Harlow grew up in the white house when his father, Bryce Harlow, a legendary lobbyist, started the first White House legislative affairs office for Dwight D. Eisenhower. Harlow’s father was also a leader in GOP conventions until 1980, when one of his most famous broker deals helped put former rivals Reagan and Ford side by side on stage. http://www.timmonsandco.com/pdf/TimmonsRollCall.pdf “Some lobbyists are policy experts, crafting tax code or appropriations language. And others specialize in relationships. Harlow is an example of the latter. He describes his role as a facilitator, helping to create an environment where his private sector-clients and policy makers can work together to craft a solution.” http://www.timmonsandco.com/pdf/TheHill.pdf
