Career

edit

Born in Blackpool, Lancashire, Shaw began his playing career at Blackpool after coming up through their youth system. At sixteen years of age he left High School and signed a two year YTS contract with Blackpool. During this time Shaw was coached by Neil Bailey, Billy Ayre, and Sam Allardyce. After seven years at Blackpool, he went on to play in non-League football for Fleetwood Town and Kendal Town, notably playing a big part in Kendal’s survival in the Northern Premier League First Division by scoring crucial goals at the end of his first season [4] [5][6] [7] [8]

Shaw, who currently plays as a defender, decided to continue his playing career by attending college in the United States in 2001. After attending a scholarship showcase through the Professional Footballers' Association in England, Shaw went on to play for Bryant and Stratton, winning the NJCAA Div 1 National Championship in 2001[9] and receiving the MVP award in 2002. Following this Shaw played for Le Moyne College where he received All-American honors and the team MVP award for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Shaw remained at Le Moyne for two more seasons as Assistant Coach while completing his degree.[10][11][12]

Shaw signed a Professional contract for the Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) in 2011,[13] [14] Shaw previously played for CNY United[15][16][17] of the PASL League and was selected for the 2008 All-Star team[18] which played against the California Cougars in Stockton, CA.

As well as playing soccer, Shaw is the Director of Education for NY Soccer Central,[19] a youth development program based in Central New York, which he started in 2003. Additionally, Shaw also provides game analysis for Time Warner Cable Sports, commentating on televised soccer.[20][21] [22]
