Okalumbu combined school is situated about 5 kilometers from the main road in okalumbu village , onyaanya constiuncey in theOshikoto Region, the school was named after the village which was named after a young white man who was found swimming in the dam of that place. The school was established in the early 1960s as a missionary school with one block of classroom .It become a government school in 1972,with Fiina Iitula as the first principal.[[1] Fiina Iitula] currently Okalumbu combined school has 27 staff members and 551 pupils of whom 46 are in grade 10. The school has 4 classroom blocks including 2 staff members’ offices, library, a garden, chicken house as well as the sport field. [citation needed]


Academic and courses offering

The school has been offering Grade 10 since 1993,[2] it also offer two courses as a field of study which is science field and commerce field of study, which required every pupil as from grade 8 to have a choice to decide as whether to go for science or commerce field of study based to their interest. This respective school offer MY FUTURE IS MY CHOICE club in order to teach and present topics that they found as a better way of making pupils to understand of how to pilot their own plain in the future.[citation needed]

Events

The school conducts a cultural festival once in every year. Activities include bursaries day staff member and learners prepare and sell traditional foods such asmahangu andbeef . Some pupils use to attend School Christian Movement(SCM)after school as most of them loves and prefer to sing as well as to read the bible.Okalumbu offers different activities as physical exercise such as netball, volley ball ,soccer and athletics because a healthy body house a healthy mind.[citation needed]
