I guess I'll start this page by noting that R. Baley is not related to my real name, but instead is a pseudonym I've grown rather fond of, as it reminds me of (well, some of) my favorite books growing up. I currently live in New Orleans and enjoy it here despite all that has happened recently (due to Hurricane Katrina).

My educational background is primarily engineering with some medicine/biology.

I started editing on Wikipedia in October 2006 and registered an account soon thereafter. As of April 2008, I have over 2800 edits. One article I've created from scratch is VoteVets.org. I've also contributed significantly to Charles Swift, Michael J. Fox, and Glenn Greenwald. I watchlist some politically oriented pages and occasionally chime in on discussions and edit their related mainspace articles. I also watch noticeboards (like ANI) and policy discussion pages, partially for their entertainment value, but mostly because I want to see that people are treated fairly. I try to be circumspect about the issues I involve myself in, trying to restrict myself to those places where I have a unique perspective to offer, and/or where I think I can make a substantial contribution.

That's all I care to share for now, perhaps I'll add more to this page over time. My experience here has been mostly positive; I'm hoping your wiki-experience has been the same. Cheers, R. Baley (talk)
