editRepublic of Namibia is a democratic county formally known as "South West Africa" got its independence on the 21 March 1990 from South Africa and Germany colonial rule, with the expectation of Walvis Bay and Penguin island which remained under South Africa control until 1994. They also wanted our natural resources and other agricultural possessions.It shares land borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south and east. Although it does not border with Zimbabwe, less than 200 meters of riverbed (essentially the Zambia/Botswana border) separates them at their closest points. Its capital city is Windhoek originated from hot springs which refers to warm water springs that existed near the area where the Windhoek Municipal officers are situated today.The national antherm "Namibia land of the brave" written by Axali Doeseb"
Leaders, Heroes and Politic
editDr Sam Nuyoma is the first and founding father of the republic of Namibia well know "father of the nation" and the second president who is ruling the country know since 2005 is his excellence comrade Hifikepunye Pohamba.When it comes to heroes who fought for the independence during colonial years we talk the likes of Mandume Ndemufao, Samuel Maharero, Hendricks witbooi,Patrick Lunganda,Nehale Lyampingana and other more freedom fighters such as Andimba Toivo ya Toivo to name a few.[[1]]. There are number of multiple political parties but since independence the party which is still ruling is South west African People Organisation(SWAPO)[[2]]. There are other political opposition parties such COD,RP,RDP,NUNDO,MAG etc.
Backbone of Namibia's economy
editNamibia has a population of 2.1 million people and a stable multi-party parliamentary democracy. Agriculture, herding, tourism and the mining industry – including mining for gem diamonds, uranium, gold, silver, and base metals – form the backbone of Namibia's economy and the our money or currency is called "Namibian dollars"[[3]]. Given the presence of the arid Namib Desert, it is one of the least densely populated countries in the world. Approximately half the population live below the international poverty line, and the nation has suffered heavily from the effects of HIV/AIDS, with 15% of the adult population infected with HIV in 2007.In a meanwhile,Namibia has wide diversity of cultural and langueges such as: Oshiwambo,Khoekhoegowab,Afrikaans,Kwangali,Twsana,Damara Nama,Otjiherero and other foregn langueges such germany,france and portuguese but our official languange used is English.
My conclusion
editNamibia is peacefull country striving for justies,unity and liberty for all.It has many natural features that are more attractive and fasnating geographical locations even though its still a developing country. Am pround to be a Namibian thuswhy i say" MY COUNTRY MY PROUD".
