What's in a name? edit
Papa Carlo was the name of a poor street-organ player in Aleksey Tolstoi's children's tale The Golden Key, or Adventures of Buratino1. One day, tired of his lonely life, Papa Carlo decides to carve a puppet out of a wooden log and names him Buratino (from Italian burattino - puppet). Old fool hopes that his puppet will bring people joy and happiness and help him out during his old years. Buratino miraculously springs to life (it's a fairy tale), grows a curious long pointed nose (a permanent feature - not regulated by his lies), gets himself in a lot of trouble but eventually fulfills old Papa Carlo's hopes.
I am not very involved with Wiki but hope to eventually 'carve' something useful.

- 1: Adventures of Buratino was adapted (borrowed?) from a famous Italian fairy tale of Pinocchio, and Buratino as well as other characters of the book became wildly popular among the populace of the then-Soviet Union where Pinocchio remained virtually unknown.
