Zak H Laycock is a recording artist/producer and DJ best known for working within dance music industry writing and producing with many different dance acts including The Prodigy.[1]

A former free party DJ he is founder member of 90's big beat scene pioneers Environmental Science[2] and was part of the group The Criminal Minds.

Starting out as a record distributor Zak quickly progressed to regular DJ slots on the free party scene of the early 90's with sound systems like Spiral Tribe. From there Zak joined proto jungle/rave outfit The Criminal Minds as part of their live show on keyboards or as an MC. In the studio with TCM Zak began to write and engineer and eventually set up a new group Environmental Science. In those first years Zak became friends with The Prodigy's Liam Howlett and secured one of the Science's first projects which was to re-mix The Prodigy track Poison as Zak.[3] This re-mix led to the band signing to Fatboy Slim's label Skint Records. Aswell as several releases on Skint, Environmental Science went on to re-mix many notable acts including The Boo Radleys and Megadeth. With Zak Laycock not only as a writer but as a frontman on the mic, 'howling away in shades'[4] they toured the world with appearances all the major festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Reading Festival and lots of guest slots on Radio 1, they are a firm favorite of dj Annie Nightingale.

Although there was no official split of the band Environmental Science Zak went on to build his own production studio and company and has over the recent years, worked on a lot of projects with artists including UK garage legend Zed Bias and DJ Deekline amongst others but is best known for writing and producing with The Prodigy's Liam Howlett over the years resulting in the release of tracks such as Mescaline [5] released on the single release of Invaders Must Die, and Destroy, from the 2015 Album The Day Is My Enemy.
