A moganza is a hybrid movie style that draws on the remix culture of music, blended with movie mashup constructs. A moganza incorporates new live action with the intention to to achieve a blend of the energy of modern music videos with the extra depth from a movie storyline.

History

edit

In launching what they called "a new entertainment experience", Moganza Productions started with a project of new stunts, additional special effects and the inclusion of exotic locations in a reinvention of the theme of "Vampire Opera”.

Precursors

edit

The history of mashups on Wikipedia currently (Mash-ups) is mostly concerned with music, with a small mention of the combined mash-ups of music and stage performance in the TV series Glee.

The term remix (Remix) is also most commonly used with regards to music, although many music videos include storylines that could be identified as precursors of the moganza style.

The Moganza Process

edit

Budgets

edit

Many remixes and mash-ups, even very successful ones, have been created in people's homes or small studios, and often with very small budgets. A moganza is not in the same category, due to length, royalty rights and the cost of filming new material at a professional level.

Speed

edit

The Moganza process relies on the speed and ubiquitous availability of the internet. Access to the web is essential to make all stages of the production and editing process available to participants. A basic tenet of the moganza production is that amendments and approvals can be achieved within minutes rather than days or months.

Simultaneity

edit

The third foundation of the moganza is the ability to coordinate and provide new material (a moganza sequence) from a number of sources and locations, especially by overlapping time in whole or part.

Productions

edit

The first project from Moganza Productions is the inclusion of three main roles into the theme “Vampire Opera” with casting in December 2010. Film crews will shoot the new sequences in January 2011, based on public recommendations for the roles. The premier will be online in February 2011.
